This needs to be finished!!! And the option needs to be there for a larger more permanent notification. Our staff is constantly missing notifications dur to the terrible, tiny, little, quiet popup!

For audio alerts; I'd be content with being able to simply choose my own sound either from the GUI or the 20 year old Sound interface in ControlPanel

I hate it when every app thinks they need to invent their own notification system when the OS already has a great one, with great controls and customization. If Teams used the Win10OS notifications, you could even pick a custom sound for it.

Thanks for the update! Hopefully it can move out of testing in Q1!

Any update on this ? I've currently been using the webapp as a workaround (installed via Microsoft Edge Dev). Works decent, but when I have a lot of stuff open Edge tends to put the page in "sleep" mode so I don't get any notifications.

Not sure why Teams notifications weren't integrated into Windows 10 notifications from the start. Currently in order to get Teams to stop popping up you either have to completely quit Teams, sign out, or go into a do not disturb mode.

Other apps use Notifications properly. I would also like teams to respect the Focus Assist in notification Centre for presentations and when you need to focus for a couple hours. It's the least I expect from a Microsoft App.

Any updates on this one? I know it is one of the primary things holding up my company's transition to teams.

Our support staff transitioned to MS Teams as our team's primary communication & collaboration HUB. In an office where we can suddenly be called away from our workstation, it is easy to miss the toast notifications since they are limited in time they are visible. They do work, if we're already on our workstation. But, not if we're on a phone call, working with a client, or in a meeting. Email notifications get lost in the abyss of other emails received each day.
The Activity feed is rather helpful, but, would be more useful if that information was posted to the Windows 10 Notifications & Actions feed as well. Adoption of Teams has been hindered simply due to the notification limitations. When end-users have asked about notifications, and how they work for MS Teams, their default response is to go to the notifications & actions feed first to try and set it up there.

This is a much needed feature. Teams pops up while gaming, while notifications are off, etc.
It's really uncool.

Integration with Windows10 notification centre or not, an ability to customise the message seems vital.
For example, both MS Teams and MS Planner already have much more context data that could be used to create a much better and more tightly worded alert messages.
The following slightly unhelpful email subject lines were Observed (O) and relate to a single MS Team site “TeamProject” which includes MS Planner.
• O1> Message from MS Teams when another team member is @mentioned
o “John mentioned you in TeamProject”• O2> Message from MS Planner when a task is coming up
o “You have upcoming tasks due.”• O3> Message from MS Planner when a task is over due
o “You have late tasks!”Basic initial Suggestions (S) for the subject line would be :
• S1> both sender and the receiver names should be qualified as full names
o TeamProject >[SenderName] mentioned [ReceiverName]
o Rational1 : there can be more than one person with the first name
o Rational2 : possibly a different account holder may be working as the receiver• S2> MS Planner should provide more of the available context data
o TeamProject >[task name]>task IMMINENT 2 days
o TeamProject >[task name]>task DUE
o TeamProject >[task name]>task LATE 3 days
o Rational1: if the project has already created various due dates, the system should be able to provide the same sort of prompts, perhaps configurable, as we see in MS Calendar
o Rational2: The project name and task name uniquely define what the subject is• S3> do away with the exclamation mark
o Rational1: relative importance of lateness is for the team to decide• S4> provide facility for user custom logic defined subject lines
o tightly constructed subject lines facilitate rule based processing -

Any news? Our users are complaining that their business users are not seeing uptake in use of Teams because they don't know how to control notifications and follow up accurately.

Why hasnt this happened yet? People arent using teams because of this. Need much more control over notifications...Options to have the notification stay for longer and be bigger.

It has been almost 3 years since the idea started. Is it really going to happen?

I wish this never came. It's so annoying, and rings even when i'm in the chat. You should leave the option to the user to use Teams or Windows notifications.

Saw this was in internal testing. I'd be delighted to install a alpha or beta version and help test.
I'm very keen to get this functionality--I can't even begin to estimate how many messages I miss because I don't see the notification pop up so the message sits there unread until I happen to open Teams when I wanted to send someone else a message and then I see I have an unread message waiting for me. The red dot on the system tray icon is identical to when you're busy/in a meeting so it isn't reliable.
