If you paste a link it should embed the media right in the chat (Gif, mp4, youtube, Vimeo, Soundcloud etc.)
The team has not made a decision on whether to move forward with this feature. We will update when we have new status to share.
WAV files were previewing before and now they are not, only MP3, I can't change the rest of the system to use MP3, is there a way to reinstate WAV support?

Hi, I wish to add my voice to the need to have an easier way to embed videos (iframe) to Teams. I am use to using Yammer which is way more intuitive and visually appealing. Both Yammer and the YouTube app are not available at my workplace which makes it challenging to engage my Change Champions globally with such a static page. Uploading Media seems like a basic and easy to add function - I can't believe this conversation started in 2016!
Do it please
I see MS Teams as an aggregator that pulls together all sorts of things into a unified context... media needs to be delivered in the context of the thread whenever practical.

For those just interested in just embedding Stream Videos - check out here: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/35692132-stream-videos-in-teams-thread
An all-encompassing embed media feature would be very nice too :-)

Four later and still nothing done. C'mon MS join us in the new millenium with new video formats. GIFs are 30 years old and outmoded.

Yes, please incorporate this. And embed a preview/title thumbnail of a video link from stream into teams.
We would like to be able to drop an embed code from our own video service (Planet eStream or Vimeo) into a Teams channel conversation. Currently these both produce an iframe. It would be great to be able to copy that into a conversation and have the video play in the same way that YouTube and Stream do. Thank you.
Embedding gifs works but not video, please fix this

Why is it that every feature I need from one Microsoft product to another ends up being a highly request feature that is missing and has a forum request with years of other angry people wanting the same thing. I'm a freaking software engineer and I can't for the life of me understand how it takes you guys years to get s#$t done. But like everyone else, my complaint will fall on deaf ears. SMH
It would be great if we could embed MS Forms into Chat? This would allow polls in meetings, without have to drop into another Teams tab or learn/use Polly.
Please do this so we can use Teams in educational settings.

It is surprising that this is issue has been under review longer than a year and a half. As @Liam has pointed out, not having embedded video means that the audience etiher:
- Completely disengages from the content the Wiki is trying to show them.
- Search for the video on the tabs or link and loose track of what they were doing initially, effectively disengaging them again.
Either way, not having embedded videos defeats the purpose of the wiki to contain all data in a single place and engage the audience.
- Tutorial pages for explanation of processes, where a video is much more useful that having dozens of screenshots. The text part is still needed to provide context and a cohesive presentation. I.e.: Wiki for HR related activities in a company, such as how to book holidays, fill in your performance review and so.
Voting for this since I'm perplexed as to why you can't embed a Stream video in a post. Yes, I get that you can add it as a channel tab, but sometimes you want people to see a video without making it a channel tab. If people have to click through to see the video that decreases the chance they'll watch it.
this would be really useful. Your friends in OneNote have it working!! 😉
Get it done. Basic feature.

This would make teams chat so much better.

Yes please AND make sure embedding works in wikis as well. There are two other separate ideas that are requesting this. Makes sense to merge our voting power here :-)
And for someone to actually respond to this thread ...
