Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.

We are getting closer, and are still working thru some bugs, but hope to release this as part of a Public Preview pack in early 2021! (Windows 10 released with the December 2020 pack this week)
You can learn more about the new Microsoft Teams Public Preview program here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreview, and Teams administrators can find documentation to manage which users will see the Public Preview option here: https://aka.ms/TeamsPublicPreviewAdmin

What will we get first? Native notifications on MacOS or definitive election results from Nevada?

why Microsoft thinks we need the choice between Teams and native Mac notifications shows they don't get it.
I was disturbed when my company switched from Slack to Teams about 6 months ago. But I could never have anticipated how bad it would be. This is a flagship product which feels like a tech proof of concept. Not a tool. And everyone involved should be ashamed.

Hello,
After almost nine months, do you have any idea on when this crucial feature will be ready?
In other words are you kinda of serious people taking serious requests from your customers seriously or just amateurs?
Thank you!Luca Severini

Thanks for your reply @GastonM - that must be it alright.

@James Sweeney The reason you cannot enable the Developer Preview is probably because your (company) admin has disabled that option for you: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/resources/dev-preview/developer-preview-intro#enable-developer-preview. There is unfortunately not much that you can do about it...

I am really looking forward to the day this feature request is implemented. Teams notifications (big, purple rectangle that blocks or hides behind macOS native notifications is a real hassle.

Thanks for the post @GastonM and glad to see this worked for some folks.
I have enabled the Developer menu by clicking seven times on the Teams dock icon but I don't have the Hooks menu? I am on 1.3.00.28778.
I also don't see a switch to Developer preview option under Profile picture => About => Developer preview.Thanks.

How long could it possibly take to integrate with Mac OS Notifications??? I do not believe this is a priority at all for the Teams development team.

The do not disturb (DND) feature in Teams gets a very negative tag in our organisation. We have examples of calls coming trough to colleagues when they on Teams DND and they caller has not been added to the list to override the DND.
One of the other big gripes from users is that chat messages come through when you're on DND. The main ask we get is can it be configured to be like Skype that a presence of DND means no one can send you a chat message until you're off DND.

@GastonM - I am not seeing the option for a developer preview under Profile Pic > About... sad day.

@GastonM OMG you're a genius! I was using the workaround of having Teams open in a minimized browser window and letting notifications come through that way. But this is sooooo much nicer. It still uses the Teams notification for phone calls, but I can live with that for now.
As a side note, I had to restart Teams after switching notification styles before it asked me to allow notifications from Teams. So if anyone else doesn't get prompted to enable notifications immediately, just restart the app.

@GastonM thanks! Didn't see that one... I've activated it now and will try it. Actually, we are trying out Slack instead of Teams, but maybe this will make Teams more usefull.

@Andres Olsson
It appears in the menu on the top left (see screenshot). Make sure you're on the Developer Preview version of Microsoft Teams.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't understand how to open a Development menu in the menu bar. I'm clicking but nothing happens.
