Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
We are continuing to work on this feature. As with Windows notifications, we are also doing work to give users the choice between Teams notifications & Mac notifications.
We will update you as work progresses.

Please just get native macOS notifications out, and spare the work for a choice. It is so annoying to quit teams before every meeting because the macOs DnD setting is not honoured.

I WANT THIS!!!! i NEED this. My teammembers are waiting for me all day to respond and i don't get notified.

Plus the Mac notification center displays them immediately. Teams puts a blank window up that eventually fills in after 5 to 10 seconds.

...choice between Teams notifications & Mac notifications
Who needs custom teams notifications that does not works properly?!
Agreed. Many employees have commented about missing information due to the custom notifications being hidden behind MacOS native ones
Just wanted to add on this one, we've started to use Teams org-wide and the lack of proper notifications is hindering adoption. Messages keep on getting missed, causing frustration and people hopping back to email.
No one would ever want Teams notifications. Just stop that part of the "continuing to work on this feature" and release the native MacOS notifications. That's all anyone will ever want on Mac ever.

So annoying getting "Teams notifications" while in DND and in a meeting or screen casting in meeting/presentation on my Mac!
Really need this feature. Seriously considering deleting the native app and use the web version only at this rate.
Please please.. get this feature in!
Our company is starting to use Teams more for collaboration and communication. Being a Mac user I simply expected that Teams would use the native macOS UserNotifications framework to provide notifications to the OS (it does with iOS anyhow).
I typically run most of my apps in native fullscreen mode. I'am flat out missing notifications because Microsoft, in it's infinite wisdom, figured it could build a proprietary notification system better than what Apple has already successfully built into their own operating systems. Come on Microsoft, if you want individuals and companies to take you seriously this time, please just take the path of least resistance and use the OS native UserNotifications framework.
Prior to Teams we have been using Slack (much better IMHO) and we have no issues it. Notifications will display, regardless if you are in fullscreen mode or not.
This should be expedited to the top of the list for the macOS Teams client as it's painful!
@Alex (Teams Engineering, Microsoft Teams) --> Do you have a release date for this please?

I keep missing notifications from teams on Mac OS because of this. This renders the application nearly useless if people have to remind me that they send some messages over teams.
Seems like everyone is having this same issue, how long can you be "continuing to work on this feature." just wow!

Missed a crucial notification from someone asking about a software release. Happy days.
Yeah there's no reason to keep the current teams notification as an option. Native notifications would be better in every way.
no one wants Teams notifications, they're worthless, just give us MacOS notifications and be done with this ridiculousness!

Hurry upppppppppppppp. Ya'll said it would be ready June 2019, it's now February 2020. Come onnnnnn.
This is by far the most important feature I am looking forward to. The rest of my team, all Windows users, are anxious for the Windows variant of this as well.
Big fan of this feature, hope we'll see it soon

Is there a release date yet? MacOSX & Win notifications are a user experience thing and for certain groups of users this is a big priority. Shuffling between both styles of notifications is great but as noted by another commentator some form of restriction would be required. Hopefully this can be accomplished by a user policy :)
1197 days and counting.
