Integrate with MacOS notifications
Notifications built into the OS (which all apps I've seen use other than Outlook and now Teams) are more functional and allow for more user control. Most importantly, they honor Do Not Disturb settings, which is critical.
We are continuing to work on this feature. As with Windows notifications, we are also doing work to give users the choice between Teams notifications & Mac notifications.
We will update you as work progresses.
it's been 2.1 years since replayed "now being worked upon".
how many sprints is that, how many sprints should this take ?
This is a critical feature, and shouldn't be an afterthought. I'm on a Webex with a very large audience right now where the presenter is being continually interrupted by notifications. MS Teams is single-handedly derailing the presentation! At least make it easy to swtich on/off from the main UI directly without having to find options hidden in a non-standard location. Come on Microsoft, this is rediculous...

Please use the native macOS notifications. Thanks!
It's reached a point now where I feel compelled to comment as well - due to frustration. Although it seems that MS isn't giving a darn about their customer feedback function for this request but here it goes anyway.
Just got the new update... who the heck needs "popping chats" where you can open a chat in it's own window? Seriously guys, get your priorities straight. Just FYI, you are losing customers (=$$$ in your lingo, just In case you don't quite understand how this works) because of this tiny request. I can understand if it would take 6 months or even maybe a year but more than four years??? 'com on! It's not like you haven't done it before with your other apps...

My company just moved from Slack to Teams. The most annoying "feature" of Teams is the notifications. Why doesn't Teams use standard Mac notifications as Outlook does? I can't see the Teams notifications because they show under the standard Mac notifications. I can't believe anybody thought not using the standard Mac notifications was a good idea.

Yes, yes, and yes! Native notifications are the reason I keep coming back to this site to see if there has been progress made.
This is taking soooo long. I've been commenting on this issue for over a year now, and it's still not implemented. In the meantime I still have to be annoyed by:
1. Teams notifications not showing while using another app in full-screen
2. Teams notifications still incoming when Do Not Disturb is turned on
3. Teams notifications overlapping and being invisible after native notifications
4. Teams UI freezing for a second when a notification comes in
Please stop this ridiculous and amateurish situation as soon as possible, such that I'm finally able to work properly!
Our company moved over to Teams and I hate the Teams notifications on Mac OS, they are ugly and unreliable and not configurable. Please support built-n Mac OS notification center like every other application in use. I miss messages from Teams all the time (relying on iOS). We were all on Telegram which was great, and some of us still use it, even though Teams is officially the IM app we should be using company wise. Even Slack is better at notifications than Teams, and that is saying something!

"We are continuing to work on this feature."
You are not rebuilding an entire operating system. Please.
It's been almost 4 years now.
Just use the API, test and ship it.
Everyone should start sending the complaints to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Maybe if they hear from us directly they'll start taking it seriously instead of sitting on it for 3 YEARS.
The Teams notifications are absolute TRASH. A blank white box appears, and sometimes if you're lucky, it actually shows who contacted you before it disappears on its own.
I don't understand why this is such a hard thing to integrate when ALMOST ALL OTHER APPS, INCLUDING M$ APPS, HAVE THIS BY DEFAULT.
This isn't friggin' rocket science, and you really should COMPLETE a product, especially if it's going to be used in a BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT.
I already see this going the way of how S4B went and M$ doing NOTHING to fix the usability. Heck there's been a feature request for a MINOR thing to be fixed in Excel that was posted OVER A YEAR AGO, and still has not been implemented, no matter how much we complain.
I'd love to know when you're going to take the 4015 Votes on this seriously, because EACH ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE ARE A PAYING CUSTOMER.
Stop dicking around with virtual backdrops for the Zoom Kids, and focus on usability. This interface is absolutely atrocious, and you could learn a thing or two from Slack and Discord.
Get off your fat behinds and fix. This. Business. Application. You overpaid hacks.

Benefits that Teams notifications provides - none. Ship the macOS Native Notifications!!! Quit wasting your time on the option for Teams notifications because no one wants it.

I miss calls and message because of this!

Since this is still open and my GitHub issue was closed:
This is ridiculous. You guys have been working on this issue for well over a year and still don't have adequate notifications for Mac users. Neither the web version or the desktop app even give us the "sound notifications" option in our settings! And Banners don't pop up when they should! Clearly this is not a priority for Microsoft to fix if it's been going on unresolved for this long. It's looking like we'll be sticking with Slack if Microsoft can't come up with an update or solution quickly!
I can't believe Teams is so mainstream when simple things like this have not yet been implemented. This and the ridiculous process of signing in and out when switching between orgs that I work for.
just when is Microsoft going to get over your temper tantrum and recognize the fact that Apple exists, people use MacOS - people LIKE MacOS yet they also need to leverage MS tools as well? MS's attitude reflects the old IBM mantra of the world revolving solely around YOUR mindset Get over it already - you'll sell more and stop blowing off a huge market share
