Ability to archive channels
Would be nice if we had the ability to archive channels. For example: we created a channel for a specific project. Once the project is complete, we can archive that channel or at least move it out of the primary view. I could see the channel list getting large and clunky quickly with multiple projects many of which are complete.
Also, when a conversation in the channel is complete it should be archived or hidden.

I cannot vote for this as Channels are simply not suitable for bigger projects imho. Why not use a whole Team instead?

I realy miss this Option! We have one big team for optimizing. This team work on many problems at the same time an so the generate a big pool of channels. Today we mark the old channels as not visibile if we found a solutiuon or there is no solution at the moment. But deleting a channel is no option because all the informations can help us by other problems or sometimes anybody has a idea an a unsolved project can be revived. For a better workaround we realy want a archiv option for channels. And 15417 people want it too. Please bring it back to "work on it"!

15369 votes on 27/08/20. this is a must have, particularly for projects run in channels! Our company have stopped using a dedicated project workflow tool and adopted MS Teams to replace it. I can see us going back to using the dedicated project workflow tool if MS can't provide this function.

Without this, eventually every team will hit the 200 limit and then we have start deleting channels, even though we might need the info in future (or in fact have to retain it).

Agreed. This is a must. Additionally, archived channels should not count towards the 200 channel limit.

Very much needed indeed! The files are kept after a channel deletion good thing... but some posts contents are even more relevant that their attached docs, so for some projects/activities that we want to close/archive that context is a must keep too.

On the backlog for two years. ::sigh:: As many, many, many others have stated... just because a channel is no longer being used actively on a Team page/site, that doesn't mean we want to permanently delete all the information contained in that channel. Is it really that hard to shunt a channel off into a Archived folder that only team owners and administrators have access to unless they decide to make it a live channel again?

I agree with the folks who are asking for this. With a 200 channel limit, we are running up against the max channels in a Team.

@Alex Please update us on this highly requested feature. The longer people use and create Teams and Channels, the more it starts to feel cluttered and bordering on unusable!

Any updates? Desperately need this feature......don't want to lose files and information attached to a project or client through channels but don't need to sort through all of them day after day to get to the ever growing active projects/clients. Thank you
