Ability to archive channels
Would be nice if we had the ability to archive channels. For example: we created a channel for a specific project. Once the project is complete, we can archive that channel or at least move it out of the primary view. I could see the channel list getting large and clunky quickly with multiple projects many of which are complete.
Also, when a conversation in the channel is complete it should be archived or hidden.

This item remains on the backlog.

i 100% agree - you want to keep the projects in an archived channel as a reference

Started using teams, also for us an archiving feature is welcome. Using it with 4 people for 2 weeks and already loosing control on the conversations

This issue is 7 months old at this point. Slack would have dealt with it in two weeks.

What would the timeline for this be? This is a rather critical function for us.

The ability to archive a channel or chat is crucial to maintaining a nice flow in Teams. There should also be the ability to leave a group chat as well.

While you're at it, it is critical that we have the capability to delete chat threads and messages out of a 24 hr window.

Another approach to achieve the same thing, and more would be to include a meta data tagging capability for conversations, with the ability to tailor views based on that metadata. Think SharePoint views and metadata. So a column ,for status -> with choices for active, archived, new etc that can be filtered on. Also filter by dates, created by, organization etc. Kind of a large feature add, but I think would be very useful in allowing people to focus on conversations that are relevant.

My Chat tab for Private chats quickly became cluttered with so many convo's I would like to remove. Please allow us to remove old chats so we can make the interface feel clean :) Thanks!

+1 on the archiving. There's a ton of use cases of Teams right now... but once adopted, say 2-3 years down the line, I don't want to scroll through hundreds of Channels. Being able to archive a channel should be rudimentary to the design.

If I have opened chat sessions with many people overtime, then recent tab becomes cluttered. I should be able to close the old chats without losing history and re open them for new messages.

You can remove a channel from your Favorites, then it disappears from the main list and drops under a "more channels" link at the bottom of your team. This is how I've been "archiving" channels that my team has used for projects.

This is an incredibly glaring omission. Hope it gets sorted soon.

This is very important since it is currently not possible to delete chats that deleted users leave.

Is this available anytime soon? We want to give our channel owners AND the users (their own) right to clean unwanted conversations from their channels. Due to confusing UI, lot of users end up creating a conversation as opposed to just replying to a thread.

Currently, my MS Teams chat window lists a number of old chat threads. Since thechats were not initiated by myself it looks like I cannot delete the thread: I could just delete my last message.
I do not want to keep old chat threads forever: please give the users tohe possibility to clean up old chat threads.

This is a must have feature. Otherwise it becomes unmanageable. Archive when a channel or team is closed for traceability is very important for us.

Would love this. We do 100+ projects per year and the feed would get cluttered.

It's insane that you can't delete chats on this app, how is that even a thing?
Please fix this.. -

There needs to be a mechanism for users to be able to delete their recent chat history. Under "Chat>Recent" it shows 1 on 1 conversations from months ago. I want the ability to DELETE them or just plainly CLEAR MY HISTORY! It's cluttered and I don't like it. What kind of app doesn't let it's users delete their own chat history from the GUI?

This is also a problem when content is "shared" on the Android app to Teams by a user - the same user is not able to delete that content from the desktop client and i suspect the website.
