Ability to archive channels
Would be nice if we had the ability to archive channels. For example: we created a channel for a specific project. Once the project is complete, we can archive that channel or at least move it out of the primary view. I could see the channel list getting large and clunky quickly with multiple projects many of which are complete.
Also, when a conversation in the channel is complete it should be archived or hidden.
This item remains on the backlog.
Why is this such a hard thing? We have a eventteam an plan every event in a seperate channel. There is no other sensible solution to do this. We need to archive them for recurring events and about the channel limit.
Alternatively, channel export would be an option, or move to other teams (archive team for every year for example)
Otherwise Teams and the whole office 365 are useless for us!
I'm not sure who decided that "Add more/custom emoji/memes/gifs/reactions" (which has 15k votes) was higher priority for you to work on than the ability to Archive a Channel (which currently has over 18k votes). That decision is borderline negligent. Archiving a channel should be considered a basic and standard functionality, especially if you will continue to limit the total number of Channels allowed in a team. We can't start deleting channels, as we need to preserve that data. This is a huge problem for us (and obviously many others)
Feature is a requirement. We want to use teams for incident management, which means one channel per incident. Without that feature, Teams is useless on this regard.

It can move, merge, copy, archive and export channels ✅
In addition, can change channels from private to public and vice versa
Also available in Microsoft Appsource
Absolutely right the channel list gets large and clunky without the ability to archive or move channels. Please update when this feature will be added I am loosing support from Team members who can't find what they want and turning back to email

We could use this...

Can this idea be split into the following two ideas?
* Archive a channel
* Archive a conversation
My vote is only for archiving a channel.
How is this not implemented yet?

Please update status on this uservoice submission, and note that it's critical that the channel archive (ne "Delete") feature should provide a mechanism (e.g., default or optionally) to export the channel Posts (conversation history) to a log (e.g., a markdown file. word doc, pdf, or even just a .txt file). The Channel Files are already maintained in the sharepoint folder after the channel is deleted and can be located into perpetuity, but the Posts (conversations history) are currently discarded...unless you write custom code or possibly leverage some 3rd party solution.
A lot of important information is relayed by users in the channel Posts (conversations), some of which may even be deemed essential for compliance or audit purposes. Please consider this when building the feature.

+1 to this feature request. Does anyone have a good workaround for it?
Urgently needed feature!!
Yes I desperately need this feature, we create channels for specific projects within a main Team group and want to close it out once complete.
Please private channels as well

Why is this on the backlog? It is a must feature and we really need it to work efficiently.
This is a much needed feature - please prioritize!
It would be very good to have this option available as soon as possible.
