Map Teams to Plans 1:1 and Channels to Buckets 1:1
The mapping of Teams to Groups to Plans in a 1:1 connection would make the most sense. However, having Buckets mapped to Channels could work as a nice filter for the Planner UI in Microsoft Teams.
Hope you are thinking about it!
At least make this an option. I got many users who use planner but want an overview of all boards/buckets within the channel "General". Thanks!

I don't think it necessarily needs to be a one-to-one relationship for teams to plans and channels to buckets. This may be too restrictive for some cases, and I think flexibility is one of the primary benefits of Kanban-based project/task management systems. If there was a many-to-many relationship for teams and plans and a bucket filter in Planner, then one could accomplish what you are proposing, but many other scenarios (like the one proposed by David M.) could also be accomplished.
Not necessarily - you have one team, which is working on several topics and need several task boards. So therefore you can create channels within the team to get several plans.

I kinda like the idea -- but then in the Planner UserVoice I was also voting to have multiple plans per Group, and this would prevent that.

I was about to post this - makes perfect sense to me!
