I WANT TO TURN THE AUTO EMOJIS OFF WHEN I TYPE IN TEXT. THEY ARE UGLY AND TEXT EMOTICONS ARE SUPERIOR.
So much potential at work with additional reactions and more emoji. We communicate a LOT with each other and being able to use emoji's as a response is so much faster and easier to see than text.
* someone on the team asks for help, we want to add reaction of "raised hand" (or similar), to identify that I will pick up the work.
* a check mark when we are done with it
* image of 'eyes' if we're looking into the question
* timer emoji to identify that we will answer or do the work, but in a little bit; can't get to it right now.
* a reaction that would say "thank you"
* an reaction to say "you are welcome"
* an reaction to say "Kudos!" (clapping hands, for example)
As a start, if we could even use the existing emojis as reactions, that would give us more functionality.

What a low priority. I turn off this feature on teams that I manage. I guess it's important for users in junior high school. But professionally, there are far higher priorities on the list.
Why on earth are you 'Working on' this when there are basic, critical functions that are 'on the backlog'? Good grief.
Our team at work has unanimously agreed that we need an icon that we can program a sound to, so that during our Teams meetings we can click it to make the sound. Our sound of choice right now has been a screaming goat. We have a toy that is a goat that we click when we get frustrated or are having a moment in the office, helps get us to know who is having a tough time and when we need to take a moment to help or just simply have a good laugh. A team building moment.
Please make regular Unicode emojis default and move animated ones to stickers. Click on '🙂' should open something similar to Windows emoji panel (Win+.) and autocorrect should convert ':)' to regular unicode emoji.
I miss that feature since I moved from Slack to Teams
Please add this feature.
To be able to add mor nuances in the expressions (that are not always possible in the text) is mandatory.
Discord, Slack ... every platform to discuss has a way better implementation of that.
Look at Discord for example : emojis are even a mark and a distinction for your channel.
There, custom emojis are really on another level.
But in teams there is even less emojis than il msn or icq in 1999.
I don't get why and who would make such a strange choice.
Wish this was built 4 years ago, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't have a say over my team using Teams. I use Slack on the side for one of my important working relationships, since the corporate Teams is frustrating, less expressive and less functional (slows down over time, not great 'snippet' support).
While you wait.. check out https://www.asciiart.eu/, fun ascii art though not better than custom emojis.
PLEASE implement this soon, 15K people who care want it! Which means probably 10X that who want it but didn't find this page. :)
I want to be able to add my own icons and emojis.
How long do users have to wait for Microsoft APPROVAL on emojis?

5th birthday for this. Anything I can help with your agile tranformation???
This is actually an urgent need, not a frill. Emojis have evolved out of a need for enhanced rapid communication with an effective additional - humanizing - emotional layer beyond that of simple prose.
As a former Slack user, I can see the difference every day - organization-wide - between group communications with vs. without effective emojis; the difference in group cohesion is real.
*** Microsoft Product Managers: this is a very high-reward, low-effort feature to implement. Please respect us, your users, and provide it. ***
Biggest mistake ever in our company: Moving to Teams during corona, where the possibility to communicate during isolation is 100x worse without custom emojis. We are looking into migrating back now, sigh. Be warned people: Think a lot about what this will do to your team, before you migrate.
If this functionality ever comes out, then this will be significant improvement. People communicatie mostly non verbal and almost only thing I can put on post is thumbs up, lol.
Slack puts the Teams app to shame! Especially where you can integrate other apps into it such as Dropbox.
Our company just moved from Slack to Teams and I can't say it's an improvement. Teams looks incredibly boring, the emoji range lacks many of the most used ones and you can't even add ones from other sources. Microsoft at it's best, I guess... This topic shouldn't be too timeconsuming, one should think.
I don't understand how almost every other communication app has the ability to add emojis but one of the biggest names in tech can't get it added? Make it make sense.

Would it be possible to add full Unicode 14 / Emoji 14 release support in the meantime ?
Not necessarily custom emoji
