Thank you for your continued feedback! We are happy to share that we have rolled out 800+ emojis to our Desktop and Web platforms, with Mobile rolling out in the coming months. This update includes 6 skin tone options, different genders for applicable emojis, and emojis featuring people with disabilities. Please note that you can also add native OS emojis using “Win + .” shortcut in Windows and “Cmd + Ctrl + Space” in MacOS.
Today, you can add a custom meme with your own caption in the Sticker/Memes feature. To learn more, please visit https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/send-an-emoji-gif-or-sticker-in-teams-174248c9-e64d-4de1-9f41-3199cc0751ad.

Why is there no intellisense prompt when starting to type an emoji name? We have to know the full complete name before a preview displays (which isn't really a preview, it actually inserts the emoji). Do you expect that we memorize 800 emoji terms?
This implementation is a huge miss by the MS team.
The additional emoji options are nice, but the reactions are where the expanded options are needed!

Adding my agreement with the other 99% here: Anyone who has come from a Slack organization to a Teams organization misses the hyper-personalization of custom emojis -- especially for reactions.
"You can add captions to stickers" is *barely* related and certainly not "partially done" for the desired functionality.

I agree with the reactions aligning with the emoji comment. That's where these are more used...
@Alex I have been unable to find a keyboard shortcut to open the emoji selector (platform specific shortcut aside, I want the teams emojis not the weird windows ones). It is frustrating to be typing any then have to take my hands off my keyboard to open the emoji selector.
We used to be able to get to a list of emojis by using the colon (:) character. Will you add a shortcut to open the selector? Thanks!

The emojis are nice, but the reactions are more important. Please align them with the emojis.
18th July 2021 - I suppose that's a start, but it's not in the spirit of this request. We still can't add OUR OWN, as is possible in Slack and was in IBM Notes over 10 years ago!
You have not understood for meaning of many user request yet.
Like slack service, we would like you to be able to add custom emoji to have several reaction to other user more easier.
It's very difficult for me to use Stickers/Memes because Stickers/Memes is a big reaction when viewing in time-line.
And I think it is not necessary for you to report until all resolved to all issues.

Still no custom emojis - no matter, employer is going to back to Slack so... problem solved?
The current choices for stickers and gifs are really poor, and please consider allowing users to add their own.

It would be great if when a user attaches an animated gif as a file attachment, if automatically plays in the chat window for all users. Please consider implementing this feature.

Uploading of custom GIFs would be VERY helpful. Hoping this makes it in to the queue soon.
Hi Alex, looks like a lot of the people posting here are asking only about adding custom gifs.
Good job MS on the adding more emoji's but I think the biggest ask here are the GIF.
Thanks for the consideration. Looking like this has been an ask since 2016... about time for some action.
"The ability to add custom emojis and custom reactions is still under review, and we will share an update as soon as one is available."
Any hope that this might appear on a sensible timescale? It's such a downgrade from Slack in it's current form
Would love to have access to GIFs and Mems that are external to teams. It is a great way to express yourself and have fun bonding with your team.

How does this have 15.7k likes and is already in public beta while an actually useful functionality like an actually "full" fullscreen on screen sharing has only 1.6k and a normal download file dialog asking where to save is still in backlog even though it should have been shipped in version 1.0?
That being said, drop the Skype style (...) based emoticons. They break normal text that needs to have ( and ) sometimes. I think something like ::emoticon_name:: is much better as it can't happen by mistake.
Upvote, downvote, and punctuation responses such as "!!" and "?"
The notation with parenthesis is unintuitive, it would be interesting to know why wouldn't you use the same notation as everyone else.
Probably because you don't want to fix the skype emoji notation, that replaces ":)" with the emoji as soon as you type it, and not on send. I think it is a shame. You should copy slack's/whatsapp's/signal's/telegram's implementation of this.
Performance is getting worse with every update and we can't receive notifications from two accounts at the same time, but we got more emojis ... yippie ...
You do this but not update Teams for Linux -_-
