Rename of Team Channel doesn't rename associated Sharepoint files Folder
When renaming a Team Channel, the associated Sharepoint folder continues with it's previous name. This could lead to confusion.
Thank you for your continued feedback, the team is actively working on this item. We will share an update as soon as one is available.

I noticed that when I renamed a channel, the associated Sharepoint folder retained the original name. Additionally, if I delete a channel, the associated Sharepoint folder remains.
The proper action should be changing the name of the Sharepoint folder if the channel name changes.
For deletions, because I can understand that a user may wish to retain any files uploaded to a channel, provide an option to keep or delete the Sharepoint folder and if kept, either change the name in some fashion to show the channel does not exist, or dump the files into a common storage area.

1. Create a channel in Teams with some name. Observe the SP folder--it's the same name.
2. Rename the channel in Teams. The SP folder name stays the same.
3. Rename the folder in SP (to match the rename in step 2). The Teams channel link is broken.
4. Create a new file in the renamed Teams channel. SP recreates the original folder name and places the file there.
5. Browse to move the file. You can move the file to the renamed SP folder, but it vanishes from Teams as there's no longer a channel for it.
Workaround: Once you settle on the channel name you want, create a new channel with that name (no errors allowed!) and move files into it. If harmony with SP is desired, disallow name changes in either place once the "official" channel/folder name is set.
This is a lot of attention even for SharePoint. From a UI expectation perspective, it's, well, unexpected.

A similar issue occurs when you rename the TEAM. When the Microsoft Team site is first created a process (workflow) provisions the Modern SharePoint site and builds out the related notebooks, etc. However when the team site is renamed not everything originally set up will change. The URL will still reflect the original team name, the team notebook will still have the original team name as a title, etc. It would be nice to see that when a team site or channel is renamed that all the associated components reflect that change.
With that being said, I think the Microsoft Teams approach is a wonderful collaborative solution.
This shouldn't be viewed as a feature request, this should be considered a bug.
...or even delete outright.
to give the possibility to rename flies and channels in the u and have it associated with Groups and OneDrive.
I second that request. That shoulde be the same for OneNote section associated with the channel.

Definitely. The General channel is annoying non-descript for us.
Renaming sharepoint back to the original name again, and the link is restored.
Further, later renaming the Sharepoint location to match the amended Team Channel breaks the link.
