Rename of Team Channel doesn't rename associated Sharepoint files Folder
When renaming a Team Channel, the associated Sharepoint folder continues with it's previous name. This could lead to confusion.
Thank you for your continued feedback, the team is actively working on this item. We will share an update as soon as one is available.
Can you please fix this issue. We use Teams within our company and the folder naming mismatch is very frustrating :(

I'm glad to see this is being worked on... Except please for the love of all that is holy, prompt the user as they change the name in Teams. It'll save them lots of headache if they knew they would literally LOSE ACCESS TO FILES FROM WITHIN TEAMS IF THEY CHANGE THE TEAM NAME.
Awsome news !

@Warren, ummm, this sounds like passing the buck. And, if one of your developers is telling you this, than they are being lazy as the folder information is stored in Teams, not SharePoint.
Take this example:
1) Create a team.
2) Create a channel named "Alpha".
3) Upload a file.
4) Go into SharePoint and manually rename the folder to "Beta".
5) Restart Teams and go back into the channel.
6) First, notice no files are there (of course, because the folder has been renamed)
7) Now, rename the Teams channel to "Gamma".
8) Upload a new file
9) Go back into SharePoint.
10) Volia! The "Alpha" folder has been recreated. There is no Gamma folder.
It's really just lack of priority. Teams is so focused on "features" that the bugs are insane. You all really need a couple of sprints (maybe all of Q3) that focus solely on technical debt.
Voted, this is basic functionality. Everyone needs this. Until this is fixed I wouldn't allow channels to be renamed if the underlying folder cannot be renamed.

Need an update from admins. Nine months. Syncing up with SharePoint team is Microsoft's job, not the users' job. We encounter the issue through Teams, so it is a Teams problem to integrate & resolve.

Get it sorted Microsoft!!!!!!!!!
I created a Team site for teachers to collaborate and access resources which is great. In addition, I added the BackEnd Team SharePoint link to act as a web page so users can access the Teams resources without the need to log into the team. The reasoning behind this was that some teachers may not yet feel technically comfortable to access Teams. I noticed that the SharePoint site did not reflect the changes we had made to the channels in Teams so went about to rename and delete empty folders only to find that all the files had disappeared from Teams! I looked at the comments below and found that if you rename back to the old name, the files come back. I have done this but, it is not ideal. The SharePoint site linked to Teams was ment to help users with little technical ability but it now it just a confused mess! Please fix this issue ASAP.
