Importing from Slack, Hipchat, Flowdock, Basecamp, etc.
Hi,
We are using Slack for a long time and now we are thinking to transition to MS Teams. In Slack it is possible to export all channel content's in JSON with links to files uploaded to slack.
It could be very useful to have the ability to import the slack history into MS teams.

Thank you for your continued feedback. We are currently working on this, and recently announced this feature for developers in Beta. For more information, please visit https://developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-teams/blogs/importing-3rd-party-platform-messages-to-microsoft-teams-is-now-available-in-beta/.

Most of these services have already this option.
It's not even an "option", it is available by default and it should be implemented - if you really want more people switching to Teams.
The first thing when you decide migrating to a different service (competitor) - you see what you can take with you in the process: the history, list of users, etc.
And there's the bump with Teams - nothing of the sort is available. -

We use Slack in Engineering and it will be great to have all the data exported to Teams!

We are considering switching to Office 365 from our current email provider. If this import feature is implemented, we would have another reason to do so - we could also leave slack.

This is a dealbreaker for many. If Microsoft can fix this then there no hurdle to switch

Entirely agree with you David
Slack history retention is definitely high on the agenda here when evaluating Teams; not to mention third party application integration (salesforce.com, Twitter and GitHub to name just three...all exist but in very limited form currently it would appear)
Thanks for flagging for the Microsoft team to consider

Provide a way to import Slack/Hipchat history into Teams. Slack provides a way to export the history: https://get.slack.help/hc/en-us/articles/201658943-Export-your-team-s-Slack-history It would make the migration from Slack to Teams much smoother if we can import the history file into Teams

HI,
same for us - besides Slack we do also use Hipchat and all of them would like to migrate over to teams.
Only the lack of importing old data into teams is a showstopper for our switch over to Teams :-( -

We do also think about a switch over to Teams - but most of our internal communication is already on Slack!!
MS - please provide a way to import JSON into Teams -

We have a long history of BaseCamp projects. If possible we would really like to maintain that history. Other services like teamwork have the ability to import from BaseCamp so it seems possible.

Get this done, and our entire organization will switch.

Hi,
We were previously using HipChat, but are now moving our teams over to Microsoft Teams. We'd like to be able to take a HipChat export of rooms (aka channels) and import them into Teams for archive viewing. The data is available in JSON format.
