Collapse/expand conversations (hide/show replies)
Users are asking for a few different things:
1. Collapse/expend all button -- single click to collapse or expand all threads
2. Admin setting for collapse/expand
3. Button to re-collapse a thread once its been expanded (right now you have to navigate to another channel in order for the thread to re-collapse)
Please add more granular requests in the thread below.
Item 1 and 2 are Under Review.
Item 3 has been Completed.
I’ll keep you posted as I hear more on this request.

I would like to see all replies, all thread answeres, posts and comments everywhere in the complete tool.
If I like to hide something of this, I would like to have an option in the settings to turn this on and off.
Here too: Our team members are missing important things because they do not click on "see more"...!

So, we've got "collapse all", but still no "expand all". What is there to review? It is a waste of time to force user to click 3,4,5, + times to see a full conversation thread, particularly as it collapses all whenever you change focus.
Any update on this, been a year since the last Admin post.
Hiding messages by default is bad user experience. I've missed so many important messages.
Seriously. This makes channels unusable. Auto collapsing threads and threaded messages by default completely ruins the chat room experience. Please make this a channel setting or a user preference.

I beg of you to please stop collapsing conversations. This is a huge time waster. Please, stop it. It's almost impossible to find conversations that you've hidden. The whole point of this tool is to have the entire conversation available for browsing and you've gone and hidden it in a way that is totally unobvious and requires incessant clicks to find what you are looking for. Please, in the name sanity, stop the collapsing.
I find the collapse feature maddening. I was reading messages, got a new message, and it still took me a minute to realize the messages I just expanded were now collapsed again. It is very annoying to have to keep expanding them manually, and it is an excellent point in comments below that people are missing messages because they are collapsed. The default behavior certainly shouldn't be that people miss messages. Not only should we control the behavior of auto collapse, the chat should also be smart enough to display unread messages no matter which option is chosen for auto collapse.

+1 to this for #1 and #2 (especially #2), it's REALLY difficult to run a team on this app if my team members on my channels constantly have to click "read more". Unfortunately they're missing many things they NEED to know. Slack does this, why can't Teams?
"Expand All" should be the default. I'm overlooking important information because it is hidden behind "see more" or, even worse, "Bob and 5 others replied" type links.

This would be a big benefit to seeing conversations that I may have missed, or not been @mentioned.

I actually think the problem is "upstream". To be useful when I go to a channel I need to see a list of conversations *by title* like Outlook. Then when I click on a Conversation it should expand with all posts scrollable which I can then read continuously. I would then collapse that one when I was finished, be back at the list of conversations and expand another conversation, entire.

Yes, expand all and stop collapsing threads unless I ask for it.
It's like it's hiding content on purpose. Bad decision for default behavior.
@warren did the devs not look at any other products? This makes teams really difficult to navigate and find information. We are being force to Teams from Slack, and quite frankly it's horrible. The UI is way too busy, and messages are truncated by default.
Please mention to whomever is managing this train wreck that we really need a way to NOT collapse everything by default.
+1 Any update with this? Having to click "see more" all the time is a total pain and too often crucial information is missed. It also makes something really hard to find retrospectively when everything is hidden like this - you have to open a bunch of of messages to find the info you need which is detrimental to productivity.

CSS Commercial Escalations posting on behalf of 200-seat O365 Broad Commercial Customer:
Users need the Collapse/Expand settings to be retained while navigating in Teams; they are transient now and are not retained for the user profile.
I'd really like to have things expanded, at least for conversations that have been active last few days.
1 and 2 would be great to have!

Can I have it so messages that are sent on channels which are long are viewed always in full instead of having to click 'see more'. I am pretty new to using ms teams but am finding this very frustrating.

From the desktop, the ability to scroll through a buffer and read content is really important. Auto collapsing by default hinders this search. It would be best if the this a setting global per channel.
New to Teams (coming from Slack) and this is probably my #1 gripe with the system. Please implement ASAP at the very least a way to simply expand all messages in a thread/conversation, or better let me have a user setting that determines how conversations are shown. The constant 'show more' clicking one has to do to see a conversation is highly aggravating.
