Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Hooray! Multi-Window chat has been a long-awaited feature, and it is rolled out fully to the general public. Please be sure to “check for updates” and restart your client if you aren’t seeing it.

Skype 8 started work on this at roughly the same time, and now has this feature in preview. Perhaps you could contact Peter Skillman and ask for a few implementation tips?
Please make this a priority.

would like the ability to pop out other items as well, e.g., folders, teams, etc.

Seeking a more similar UI to skype. Separate notifications for IM vs. other TEAMS functions. I want separate windows there I can toggle in a multi-monitor environment - have one window going with a call, with the presentation, etc. And then a separate window so I can have active, private IMs with individuals in parallel to the call.
@AJ - Glad you're finding the existing UI useful. The Teams ecosystem is large and diverse, so options are important.
I often have chats open with several people, usually discussing something which requires me to look through source code or specifications, as well as working on my primary task. This means having multiple, small windows open alongside that task, so I would prefer to have an option for a maximally compact UI which supports multiple windows.
This was available in Skype 6.21, for example. Skype 7 made it less compact. Skype 8 removed the multi-window support completely, making it much more like Teams (and much less useful to me). But they are (apparently) putting it back in, and they have shared screenshots of a prototype.
As I have said before, ad nauseam, "no options" is not an option.
Also needed top pop out video chats, seperate from presentation!

On-screen chats don’t always move as quickly as you’d like, meaning your customer support reps may spend lots of time waiting for the customer to respond. Increase efficiency with multi-chat windows that allow live chat representatives to handle multiple chats simultaneously. To know more, visit - https://www.macsupportnumber.com/
I understand this is a good idea for chats. For documents, I see that there is a < & > buttons on to the top bar which allows us to navigate back to a document/spreadsheet we are editing without need for drilling down via Files. So I fail to understand the pain many are referring to here.
This should work for any window not just messenger one. The fact that it keeps closing documents that you then have to re-find and open is just painful.
I would love it if I could break out another windows that I can use for reference whist working in another.
A very popular request. Please also vote and comment here: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16926739-multi-window-for-chats-and-more
This has got to happen. Going from viewing my team items back into the chat section is painful! Especially when editing documents with the client
Allow to open multiple windows.
Want to use two accounts(one for private, one for work) simultaneously.
Or want to check a message while viewing another message.
I support the idea!
I will add this is huge when on a large meeting... sometimes you need to have a private conversation with only a couple members of the meeting, and can't take the CHANCE of mixing up conversation windows!!

Our users are requesting over and over the ability to pop out a single chat so they can view two (or more) chats at the same time.
Not having pop-out chat windows makes life hellish. Why has this not been done in two years?

If the plan is for Teams to take over for Skype for Business, this must be prioritized. Right now it is highly inefficient to chat within Teams and one of the main reasons we are having trouble weaning people off of Skype and on boarding them to Teams.
This request has been open since November 2016!!! Come on, this is VITAL for effective use of Teams as a replacement for SfB!!!!
Add a feature to pop out a meeting from the Teams client. While in a meeting, call, or screen share it would be helpful to be able to access other areas in teams chats or files etc. Currently the only option is to click to these other areas which reduces the meeting screen to the small window in the upper left of the screen. This feature should allow dragging the meeting to another area of the screen or to another screen.
Yes, this would be beneficial
