Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Multi-window chat is in testing. I hope to have great news regarding rollout to the public rings soon.
We are working to ensure that multi-window and other future multi-window experiences are of the highest quality when they release.
Won't use this until the feature is rolled out. cool concept though.
I want to be able to open a document in one tab and have totally different conversation or document open in another tab possibly from a different team or channel. I need to be able to quickly view multiple sources of information and opening one item and therefore closing the existing item is not a good solution.
A major productivity issue here.
All the of the options on main bar you should have right click option to detach as a window to support multiple monitors. Maybe extend this option deeper into channels and conversations. This why you could have multiple sub windows for different conversations.
Is there a way to customize what attributes are shown when you click on a contact? I would be nice to add the mobile number.
This is definitely needed as I spend more time in a desktop share with a team, and need to work in teams myself!
We need this!!

Yes! Please replicate the Skype ability to switch between Single Window View and Split Window View! I would appreciate the ability to give every chat and channel its own window—this would save a lot of switching between everything within Teams' current unchangeable single window view...

Agreed. I'd like to be able to reference or take part in channel conversations while having a separate chat with someone without having to click so much. I'd rather have the ability to 'pop-out' the chat window to a new frame.
I have the experience of having Skype application of, another person wrote on a multi-chat and I got only the text from the person but I saw none else connected on that chat.
Not posible to closed the chat Windows either.
This application is still needed loads of cleaning in the basics.

It would be nice to have the option to change the view. Skype has the option to split up the view between two screens/windows. This would help in being able to ensure conversations aren't missed. Being able to keep the left hand side with the different threads of the screen up without the right hand side of the conversations would be great!

Microsoft, this is a great thing to add for power users. Pop Out on most windows would be fantastic.
We've been using Teams for a few months now, and we realized quickly that if you're storing documents, conversations, and meeting notes in Teams, it is a HUGE pain clicking between the "Chat" tab and the different teams/channels.
I understand that there's chat within the different tabs in each channel, but that's not a replacement for being able to chat on one screen, and be able to review your content on another.
This is even more frustrating when you're in a video conference or sharing screens. Example: You're watching your coworkers screen during a meeting, and he/she asks you to look up some notes from a previous meeting. 5 minutes and 27 clicks later, you have the notes but have missed out on everything taking place on the screen share.
Hope that makes sense. It seems like Teams took a pretty big step back in terms of core chat/video/screen-share functionality from Skype.

This is a must have for me. I see people requesting for it to link to Skype for Business, but I am not sure that is necessary. What is necessary is being able to use the chat in teams without it going away if you have to navigate to something else like the "Activity" tab. The best solution would be a Pop-Out chat.
It would be nice when clicking on the user contact information pop out there could be a button to call the user on Skype for Business.

One should be able to pop the chat window out separate from the Teams application...or be able to open Teams twice - hard to chat with someone about content in Teams without being able to have them as two separate windows. I can't figure out how to do it anyway.

Add the ability to pop out a private chat to its own separate window
agree, this is far to big
