Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Hooray! Multi-Window chat has been a long-awaited feature, and it is rolled out fully to the general public. Please be sure to “check for updates” and restart your client if you aren’t seeing it.

One of my main challenges with using Teams is that all of the activities it encompasses; chat, meetings, phone calls, file access, etc. are all shared by a single window pane. This makes it difficult to collaborate, multitask, and use the tool effectively. For example, it isn’t uncommon to be in a Teams meeting and need to maintain chat conversations with the group and with other individuals simultaneously while also needing to find and link files on other sites, all why needing to be able to glance back at the presentation on screen.
In the current UI model, the need to constantly minimize and maximize activities, as well as the difficulties in navigating from one activity to another from different activities is buggy, time-consuming, inefficient, and saps productivity. In Outlook, for example, I can have the calendar, email, tasks, and contacts all open in separate windows at the same time. And easily switch between the function I need when I need it. Or run them each full screen in multi-monitor configurations. In spite of the value of Teams, this is one of the main reasons I prefer other and separate apps.

You should have the ability like in the browser. To open another Tab or another Window.
It would be great if it was a menu when you right-click.

Would be nice to pop out meeting windows and separate teams as well for those you want to keep open and watch easily

I want to be able to pop out chat entirely!! :-) Any ETA on it? We will be completely off Skype soon and it will make work difficult to not be able to have chat windows up in addition to other teams pages
This is a must have feature. Very unproductive to have to move between conversations.
If I'm in a Teams Meeting it is even worse.
If I need to go to a 1:1 person chat, the Meeting is minimized and I can't see it anymore.
We need to be able to move the meeting to a new window.. Please
We need this. Please work on this as high priority
Teams is absolutely unusable for me without splitting conversations into several windows.

My workplace is forcing us onto Teams. I have no desire to have all my chat windows stuffed into a single window! If it weren't corporate, I'd just use something else, but I don't have a choice, the whole company is going to Teams. Please implement this!
we are trying to use Teams and have my 4 person team put together. I am trying to chat but noone is notified when I type in a chat message? how can my Team member be notified or pop out chat box when I chat something?
Teams layout is anything but functional on a laptop size screen. When reading students' essays 1/3 of the screen is covered by the sidebar on theleft, and the other 1/3 by the list of students on the right, and so to see the full text of the task I have to zoom out so its tiny print and impossible to read. Why can't users close unnecessary sidebars, choose full screen when needed, and generally choose the settings for their layout other than the darkness or color (which is the least important of all)?
Basically if I'm chatting with one person I would like to drag it to another screen and chat with another person on another screen. It would also be nice if I had a screen sharing session that it wouldn't be interrupted if I received and answered a call.
Would be really nice to have this feature. Really looking forward to this

Need to be able to open chat in one window and files in another. or even different channels in different windows

I use skype for business now for chatting with specific users because teams doesn't allow me a window per chat session. I want the same feature for each channel I happen to be talking on (since it's typically only one or two).

Was on to a customer today discussing two different proposals, seemingly no easy way to view more than one document at the same time in Teams
Absolutely needed. Feels broken without this -- can't work in one window while looking or referring to information in another. Can't chat in one with Planner or OneNote for the team (or even for another team) open in another. That's crazy. Currently, it's exactly like a web browser that can only have 1 tab and 1 window open at a time. Please make this work like Edge or any other modern browser or like Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) where we can either open multiple tabs or at least separate windows. If I had to choose between tabs and windows, I'd prefer to be able to open separate windows (like Excel and Word) to tabs, so I can have multiple windows on the screen at the same time.
Any update regarding this? Having multiple windows update would greatly enhance the versatility of Teams!

I need to have multiple team/tabs open. For example, I want to have a Planner App tab open at the same time as Meetings and Chats in separate windows so that I can arrange the windows as needed. This is similar to have two windows of a Word document or Excel spreadsheet.

Do you have an ETA for when this feature will be added? Its a challenge not being able to have multiple chat windows open. Especially during a call! Thank you!
