Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Hooray! Multi-Window chat has been a long-awaited feature, and it is rolled out fully to the general public. Please be sure to “check for updates” and restart your client if you aren’t seeing it.

I appreciate that you are trying to make everything must be 'mobile' friendly, but when I have 3 27' 4K monitors, its possible to have more than 1 app visible at a time.. Please let me have multiple windows that I can move around so i can keep any eye on a meeting, a chat, and a team etc as I work on other stuff.
Please, if this shall ever replace Skype for Business, make it available as separate windows.
I concur with all comments below. Teams is a good idea, putting everything in one place, but until we can pop out windows as needed it is too cumbersome to use. I'll stay on Skype until then.

@Suphatra as you guys are currently working on it, is there any way users are able to test this (or other) feature(s) by using an Early Access/Beta version of Teams?
Would definitely help out with user adoption

I have started ignoring peoples messages because I am editing a document or wiki and as soon as I go to a chat I lose document context. Who the **** thought only being able to read/edit a document (X)OR chat was a good idea?
This would be a great feature to have. I currently lose context when I jump from documents in the files on my Teams sites to chatting with colleagues about questions they have. Getting back to where I was in my document is painful.
If we are going to hold on to our Skype Instant Message users as we migrate to Teams only, this is a must-have capability. We also need it to blink the way Skype does to let the user know they have someone waiting to chat. Also, email notifications when they miss the chat.
Having the Chat component of Teams be a separate window (like Skype) would be invaluable for our user base as we use the Chat feature independently from the other Teams features (ie., teams, meetings).
Create a "pop out" feature like there is in Outlook, allowing Chat to stay an active/open window even if the Teams app is minimized. ***Make sure the setting stick after log-off or reboot.

Yes please! There is not one single user of Teams that can simply work in one window.
Reasons we need this:
1. The UI does not move quick enough when we're trying to multitask
2. Often need to view/edit information on multiple teams channels at the same time.
Having the ability to open multiple windows within Teams is needed. Need to be able to see multiple chats, documents, etc while in Teams.
Can't roll this out unless users are able to chat while using the rest of the application. The collaboration features are great, but extremely frustrating when you need to exit a session just to respond to an IM.
Is this categorized incorrectly? When looking at teams I do not see it in the top ideas.
I'd like to see the ability to split screen sharing and the video feed in a video conference. Many of our clients' video conferencing rooms have 2 screens and to have video on one and the screen share on the other would be sensational.
Or even if you're at your desk with 2 monitors, or one big monitor, this feature would be awesome.

Critical for real usability of the app.

The ability to separate screen sharing and video sharing during a meeting would be awesome. Can you please confirm if that functionality is included in this topic?

Absolutely need this feature.

Since @Suphatra is no longer a voice for Microsoft, I wonder if this is still being championed at the developer table???
I am moving my users from HipChat and they need pop-out windows, but mostly a 3rd column to show channel members and their status, just like HIpchat, and most other chat clients do now.
I surely agree and suffer as much as all the other 438 comments …. Please expedite this
this is a minimum requirement to continue to work productively, especially for people who splend 4+ hours every day on teams.
