Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Hooray! Multi-Window chat has been a long-awaited feature, and it is rolled out fully to the general public. Please be sure to “check for updates” and restart your client if you aren’t seeing it.

The whole interface has to change. For example why cant we resize the chat box? Why do we have to move the moue to see a person's name? Why do we have to move the mouse to find the mute or unmute button. This is really hard to explain to someone over the phone.

Is anyone from the MS Team going to give us an update? It has been months with no progress.......
Since Suphatra is no longer at Microsoft (posted in other user voice), can we get an update from someone else on this functionality?

It would be nice to be able to 'pop out' the conversations in order to have a couple of windows open if necessary. Take Chrome browser for example. All the tabs are present, but can be separated by dragging the tab out of the main window. Or put back in by dragging the tab to the top of another Chrome tab. Would make it easy and seamless to move current conversation windows around to organize them.
Also, maybe change "Recent" to "Active" conversations and add a "history" or "Recent" icon to the left instead to keep things a bit more cleaned up.
Lastly, an option to keep the side menu's 'pinned' open so that it doesn't have to be clicked on every single time when starting conversations would be beneficial, and would help with the previously mentioned drag and drop tabs.

Hi @Suphatra - any update on when we will have this feature?

I definitely agree, without this functionality i will not recommend my users to use the Chat functionality at all yet, and potentially not the Meetings either. Otherwise it cannot be used for multitasking as we do all the time in a workday.
I manage over twenty people. I have multiple chat windows tiled and am moving from on conversation to another throughout my day. To have to "click to open" each individual chat every time there's a new ping is laborious and painful (literally). #ReduceTheClicks Thanks for working on this!

Not being able to pop out chats to separate windows is a major pain point - particularly when in a screen share meeting and you need to chat with people outside the meeting.
We are currently in the process of switching to Microsoft Teams. Not being able to pop out chats to separate conversations is proving to be very difficult for us. I hope this feature will be available in the very near future.
Lack of this functionality is preventing adoption in our organisation. What is the status of this?

I routinely have 2 or 3 simultaneous and disparate conversations going on. That's hard enough to manage with individual chat windows as it is. Locking us into a single tabbed window is like we're walking on ice and you've decided to spray oil on the surface. I know this only has 5.000 some odd votes, but I am betting based on the Pareto Principle, that the amount of work you are impacting far exceeds what the votes seem to indicate.
I find it disconcerting that it is supposedly being worked, and yet, the last update from 3 months ago is "Sorry it's been three months, but we're still working on it." You're Microsoft. You've got literally tens of thousands of engineers, and in 6 months no one can complete a simple task like making chats available as windows instead of tabs? I get the impression that what "we're working on it" really means is that it is sitting in the backlog because it's a super low priority no one really cares about.
Sure, this feature may not matter to the majority of people who do the bare minimum to get by, but for the rest of us that actually try to do as much as we can, this is an extremely critical missing feature.
Any update on this feature?

We are about to migrate all users from our previous chat platform to Teams, but this is a key feature to have!
Are there updates?
I don't know exactly what this looks like as an interface, but it would definitely be nice. Have to somehow find that happy place of "everything in one place!" and "can view more than one piece of that data at a time!"
I am basically using Teams as my launcher, but from there I still actually open Planner and open all my documents so that I can see them all at once.

Must Have before shutting down skype
Can we have an update on this please? It's so frustrating to have to switch tabs. It's impacting my productivity too.
My company has just moved completely from Skype to Teams, and it's really impacting my productivity. Usually have multiple windows open on multiple screens, I can't do that with Teams, and Teams doesn't notify me someone is messaging me if I have the app running in the background. I can't edit a document and chat or be in a meeting at the same time. Daily frustration. Having everything in one window just isn't realistic and doesn't work for what I do. Please fix this as soon as possible!
Looking forward to this feature on Mac OS. Thanks.
definitely want to have chats, channels, etc to open up in another window
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee tell us this is almost done!
