Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Multi-window chat is in testing. I hope to have great news regarding rollout to the public rings soon.
We are working to ensure that multi-window and other future multi-window experiences are of the highest quality when they release.

"Actively being worked on ... " but not on the roadmap yet?
This issue has a very high (even for microsoft) rate of user engagement, but i's been "actively worked on" for 2 years?
Is microsoft still on some weird annual release cycle?

This feature is now actively being worked upon! I will keep you posted as it moves through the process.

We need multiple char Windows for instance.
Please release all these features, with this wfh scenario they become essential!
Trying to remote teach deaf students and need to have the split screen feature to share my screen and see the student signing to me. Please give us an idea of when this is going to roll out
When do you plan to roll out please?
With WFH, this becomes more and more mandatory to be more efficient.
Seriously.. Because the app is such a pain. I have a iPad, a iPhone and my laptop so I can more easily jump back and forth as needed. Please allow tear off chat so we can keep talking

To be fair, applications supporting multiple windows have only been around for 39 years, and I agree with Microsoft that the jury is still out on this hair-brained scheme. I mean, look where it got Xerox.

With us all WFH, Teams is becoming our work enviornement, please roll this out ASAP!
How soon is soon?
Echoing the same. Working from home due to Coronavirus has magnified my need for this as I'm often in large conference calls (where someone shares a power point or whatever), yet I'm still chatting with others during the meeting. I can switch to my main chat window but it makes the video/shared screen so small that it's useless. I would like to pop the video/shared screen out so that I can view it on one window, while viewing my chat in another. Thanks.
when can we expect this to be available?
Running a videocall with multiple users (only 4 on screen??). Increasing the number of mini windows for seeing all attendees feature is a critical need right now for companies today. Other videoconferencing systems has a huge number of multiple window (WebEx, Zoom, ...). Unfortunately due to Covid-19 crisis, this should be incorporated asap. Is there any date or expected date to be released? Thanks and regards

We need multiple windows for other things than just chat. When I am in a meeting on Teams I need to be able to see the teams meeting, especially when someone is sharing a screen, while accessing other stuff via teams.
This is also a major concern to my self as well... As an example screen recording a full screen presentation but have to minimize the presentation just to reply to a chat is very inconvenient.
I want separate chat windows for Teams like we have in Skype. I find myself replying to incorrect threads.
