Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Hooray! Multi-Window chat has been a long-awaited feature, and it is rolled out fully to the general public. Please be sure to “check for updates” and restart your client if you aren’t seeing it.

Voting up this one:
Can we please develop a solution that allows multiple instances of Teams - not just separate chat windows? At the same time as the O/S offering more opportunities for concurrent working, Teams is pulling everything back into, not only one desktop, but one Window. Teams is basically throwing away decades of desktop evolution and forcing us back to a one-app-at-a-time system.
Need to be able to pop-out elements from teams and position them on my desktop to best effect

any update? this has been out here since November 2016...
Please give us a setting so we can determine the duration of pop up windows for chats. This would improve the adoption of Teams in our every day work day, especially for reluctant users.
Please address. There are 1573 votes for this on UserVoice. Please. Give us some control! Please!!!!!

Pop out windows for chats would be brilliant, allowing us to continue working in teams areas (conversations, files, plans etc) without needing to flick out of the work to reply to a chat message.
The ability to save attachments from Chat window, without have to download or open first.
Updates on a person availability like in Skype where it says busy until 2pm, or free until 3pm
Seeing a person's calendar availability
Ability to save parts of a chat for reference in files, or be able to add side comments to allow to know what work this conversation related to which will help when you are searching chats for a conversation.
Pop-out option for all tabs would greatly increase user experience. Currently moving away from your current tab (e.g., viewing a file) will lose your place. It's impossible to chat and refer to a document at the same time on ad hoc basis.
Why can't we have multiple instances of Teams - not just separate chat windows? Win10 has finally caught up with other systems and now offers virtual desktops. Hoorah. But at the same time as the O/S offering more opportunities for concurrent working, Teams is pulling everything back into, not only one desktop, but one Window. Teams is basically throwing away decades of desktop evolution and forcing us back to a one-app-at-a-time system. Why?

It's been a while now, what is taking so long?

For instance, Here is a screen print of all the screens we would like to view simultaneously while working in the HIMC TEAMS group. Unfortunately, we can only view (1) screen at a time and it is exasperating and very time consuming to use the interface as it is currently designed.
It is equally as important to be able to work in MULTIPLE TEAMS groups at the same time. I like to say that Executive Assistants work in 'seconds'--not 'minutes or hours'. We are constantly multitasking on different projects at any given moment. We need the ability to have several different, unrelated TEAMS groups open at the same time so work can be done simultaneously in one or all of the groups.

Not being able to have multiple screens open (not just chats!) at once in TEAMS is a major dissatisfier. It is taking twice as long to hold functional meetings when multiple documents need to be viewed at the same time.
We would be happy for one of the Development Admins to join us and observe what we do! It is very dysfunctional in comparison to the user-friendly SKYPE meeting interface.
I am in two different teams that have no connection to each other but I need to work both at the same time without needing to keep stepping back from one to the other

can't happen soon enough
this alone would be a reason to switch from teams and office 365 onto another platform
teams has taking chat backwards
Having the ability to open windows of chat boxes would be awesome or pull this feature out of the main Microsoft teams window. currently you cannot do anything else but chat and if you screen share that is the only function you can do with a team member.
This is very important feature to have. can you provide an ETA on when we can expect a workaround.. something..

Less is not always more, option to drag any element (chat, video etc) into separate new windows. Most people use multiple monitors today.
Always need multi task and it is annoying when chat or apps not available to open from another pop up window. This is extremely difficult when working with the new amazing Shift app, have to keep jumping back and forth between the app, chats and emails ... etc.
being able to search for folders and not just file names
Much needed feature after transition from Skype to Teams, need multi-talking productivity back that Team has hurt
Multiple chat windows visible at the same time.
Ability to remove the large text bubbles.
The message should be to the right on the user name to fit more individual statements for the limited real estate available.
Ability to search text for keywords.
Ability to color code or highlight text for specific users.
Agreed. Many times I am having a chat with a teammember or have several documents I want to flip back and forth to (without opening as the full word/excel doc) and it is a major hassle having to navigate.
