Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
Hooray! Multi-Window chat has been a long-awaited feature, and it is rolled out fully to the general public. Please be sure to “check for updates” and restart your client if you aren’t seeing it.

Surely it would make more sense to have a pop out available from the Notification box that pops up in windows. Otherwise its no use at all in reality.

Just to put a comment on the UI / UX for Microsoft Teams Chatting. I use Ms Teams app in Windows version. I use feature 'pop-out chat' for chatting, but, whenever that I receive pop-up notification whenever I open the pop-up notification it not open the 'pop-out chat' instead it will open chatting tab in the app.
good to hear, we are waiting
Agree with Philip, who said, "If I have a popout chat window and receive a notification of a chat from that user, clicking the notification loads the entire Teams program to the chat page rather than the individual pop out."
Makes me wonder if the people who are implementing the features are actually using Teams.
Thanks for implementing the chat pop-out, but I hope the sizing issue will be fixed for chats soon (and meetings, once it's implemented). I can only minimize the chat window a certain amount, and it takes up so much real estate on my screen! I should be able to make the chat at least half as wide and be able to increase and decrease the font size. Changing the font was clunky in Skype, but at least it was possible.
Sorry to complain, but when a "replacement" product doesn't do AT LEAST what the original product could do, it's not a replacement.
Really appreciate the Chat pop-out to external window. However, it's not available for Teams channels which seems odd. Curious if that is something in the works?
looking forward to it - this has been in Webex and similar for years, just FYI
Some of our users have the pop out feature available whilst others do not. If this is enabled for a tenant, shouldn't all users have access to the feature?

Great feature, although popped-out chats appear to ignore the zoom setting of the main Teams window, which is quite jarring.
For as long as this took to implement, it's frustrating to see it wasn't fully planned out.
If I have a popout chat window and receive a notification of a chat from that user, clicking the notification loads the entire Teams program to the chat page rather than the individual pop out. I suppose that's harder to manage on the development side, but given the years waiting for this I would have expected that to be worked out.
Also, what's with the window width limits? The smallest I can resize the pop out is still almost half my screen width.
This should not be onl for chat, but for anything else, for example i might be in a meeting, but I want to have another window opwn with one of my MsTeams so that I can do multiple things at the same time.

Why won't you just implement fully functioning multi windows that can be used independently, like every other office program? This half way house is a waste of your efforts, we don't want to have to pop out every chat. i want a teams window dedicated to chats, one to docs, one to the meeting etc so I don't have to keep losing what I am working on to see other things

I seem to be able to pop out some chats but not others. If I go to the chat list in teams some chats have pop-out as a context option some don't.
Is there any way to popup a meeting chat - they most important one to float away - so I can see chat and participants at the same time?

Multi Window needed not only for Chats but ALSO FOR APPS. At present Teams does not maintain App state. So, when a user clicks away from an App everything is gone and the App is reloaded when the user returns. Opening Apps in seperate Windows will easily solve this issue.
This is great, but I'd also like to be able to open two documents in Teams side by side to copy and paste back and forth.

Glad multi-window chat is finally rolling out, but we really need it for Group Chat. When will multi-window be available for group chat?
My use case is outage calls, where we have multiple group chats running. Virtually impossible to keep up with these chats in tabs.
Yesterday, for my account, Multi-window chat was turned on.
Firstly, UX in the new window is too big (100 % scale). Why the scaling in the new window is not the same as it was set in the settings (main Theams window, or Ctrl+/Ctrl-)? Even worse: there is no way to change the scale in this new window!
Secondly, some emoticons in messages either appear or disappear periodically.
Next, if you open the photo for viewing, it does not increase to the size of this window, but rather decreases in size. Why UX isn't the same as in the main window?
Microsoft, you have been putting off this feature for a year. Probably for improve.
During the year, you could not realized, that a person can use a scale other than 100%?
Bad, very bad. From such a large team, quality execution is expected.
I think that students at school could be implemented this feature better than you.
Today Microsoft enable " Multi-Window Chat" but it work only one-2-one conversation but if you meeting or chat with 3 or more people it doesn't work.
Sorry but if I could use I prefer use Skype but my company switch only to Teams :-(
