Multi-window for chats and more
I want to have separate top-level windows for each person I'm chatting with, rather than tabs.
As we announced at Microsoft Ignite 2019 this morning, we are excited to confirm that Multi-window capabilities are coming to Microsoft Teams, and will start rolling out to the public ring early next year!
Alex & the Teams team
Multi-Window a must.
Having a meeting & needing to have a sidebar with a co-worker or the Team chat we have currently means you have to click away from the meeting & may miss something. Additionally, I did not find an easy way to return to the meeting. Have to click on join again & it cycles like your are joining for the 1st time.
This will be a huge impact on my productivity! Since we are moving out from Skype to Teams, multi window is much needed to navigate b/w windows using the keyboard!

This is a feature I would love to see. Much like how Skype use to be able to have multiple chat windows open. I have 4 people that we like to have windows open and bounce quickly/easily back-n-forth, especially when you use multiple monitors. Can have all chat windows on side monitor and still work in Teams or other Apps throughout the day. Or does Trillian need to make a plug-in into Teams? ;-)
I really don't like to have to navigate through the chat list. Like to just drag a chat out onto my desktop and leave it there. Having however many chat windows I need open for my team.
To build on to the multi-windows here. When we get a new chat, we need to have it ask like Skype where you have the "accept/reject" new chat pop up, and need to make sure each of the new windows blink when you get a new message on the new windows.
Others please vote for this one https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/35130118-blink-icon-for-unread-messages in case they change their minds about many windows so we can at least get the notices at least.
I can see the option is rolling out for chats (via tweet link below) BUT its more than just chat - I'd like to have the ability to open multiple windows of all the different features in Teams - Meetings, chats, Teams, Files etc etc.....much the same as I can open multiple OneNote windows and multiple Outlook windows.
Without this functionality, I cannot multi-task and the "one stop" platform becomes a "completely stopped" platform.

I agree with the other comments. I need to be able to multi-task whilst using Teams. This means popping out chats, meetings, documents and other teams features.

This should not just be for chats but anywhere you want to open something in a separate window. I can't look at two documents at the same time in Teams at the moment for example. Also if the meetings could pop out in to another window that would be helpful rather than just squeezing in to the corner when I navigate elsewhere in Teams during a meeting. Ultimately what I want to do is multi task in Teams!!
This is absolutely needed!

This is desperately needed. Flicking between chats and teams is very time consuming

Badly need this right now, since we moved out from Skype to Teams!!! A huge impact on my productivity :( need to maintain my team main window but at the same time want to respond to multiple chats,

One more, need this now. Crippled without it
I agree, I would like Chat to be able to pop-out so that it is separate from teams. It is a problem that when I am accessing a file in teams and then someone messages me and I view the message, I lose the file that I was accessing and have to re-launch it. Once Skype goes away, I would like the teams chat to be similar in the way that it can be popped out in the same way, and have multiple chat windows open at a time.

Work for a 500 person company that's attempting to replace Skype for conference room tele-presense with multiple office locations & conference rooms. Two major issues here:
1. 98% of teleconferences are accompanied by a screen-share. Current 2" x 1" video-chat thumbnail is simply not an enterprise tele-presence. In a conference room with more than one person, you can barely make out individual faces.
2. When not screen-sharing, video-chat feeds are forced into terrible portrait aspect ratio. Again, operative word here is "Enterprise". When the video feed is in a conference room, the terrible portrait aspect ratio cuts off 1/3 of the participates are both the left and right sides of the video feed.
I don't want to sound overly negative, but it's a little surprising that this is the replacement product for EOL Skype and honestly, it doesn't support enterprise-grade video tele-presence :(

Please. Multiple instances of a program is a basic feature today.
I want to edit the wiki for my Team while pulling things from the Team Chat.
Without two windows or frames, it's difficult to organize the info provided in the chat into the wiki. Which is sad.
I will see if I can open teams in a browser to accomplish this.

Current workflow is alpha. I miss direct chat messages all the time due to ignoring all notifications for a time when a team gets really busy.Notifications need an overhaul too. Like snoozing/pausing 'a team' / 'all team' notifications and popus but keep chat notifications, for instance.
