Configuring notifications options for Teams & Channels

This feature just make sense if channel could have a subset of member's team.
That would increase much more value in MS teams usage.

I see a lot of voices about conversation notifications. I've added suggestion about follow/unfollow conversation thread. Kindly ask you to pay attention and vote if you think we heed this in application:

Like others it's not the Channels that gives me an issue - it's when someone starts a 1-2-1 chat with me and I don't have Teams maximised. Currently I only know they have tried to talk with me when I get an email notification 1.5 hours later!
Please just give me notifications that work as well as they do in Slack e.g. desktop notifications, Chrome notifications etc.
Yes, of course. Just copy slack :-)
It would also be good if the language referred to the feature. "Enable Notifications" would be good.
Please just make notification system similar to Slack later you can make it better.

This unfortunately won't help us at all. We use Teams as a way to communicate _between_ teams. Channel wide notifications are used to get attention from a certain team to help to solve a problem. We have five different teams and everyone is a member in each team. In this way team member from team X can go and ask help from team Y using a channel notification. Because we are unable to have separate notification settings for each team everyone is getting notified all the time when channel notifications are being used. We would like to get notified only when someone is using a channel notificaiton in our OWN team, to be able to help the person who is asking the question.
Following a channel does not help at all - it actually makes things worse - because following a channel notifies every single text that is added to a channel. The reason why we want separate notification settings for each channel is to get LESS useless (and a bit disturbing) notifications, but still to get notified when something relevant to us is being said in a channel, when notifications are used.
This still doesn't help. To be honest i would like this to work like it does in slack :)

Same issue for me, the "follow" notifications do not work, I do not receive anything on channels I decided to follow.
Also I would like to receive daily and weekly email digests on some channels, instead of notifications for each message.
I big need was solved by follow but I will always support more fine grained controls for features such as this. There are obviously a lot of more features that could be added here like emails notifications for everything or even custom ways to notify such as different channels or even custom sounds for each channel/user.

The only problem is the follow channel doesn't work!!! I still get no notifications.

Make as much options as you can available turning notifications setting extremely flexible so we can customize according to our needs. Every option is a valid option for someone as long as you make it available.
I like @Harrison Hudson suggestions also and adding to that a few other suggestions from others: when, how, from who, from which channel, etc.

A system tray app icon indicator would be nice when favorited channels have updates, and they're not channels you follow. I'm not always in MS Teams and sometimes don't want to look in it unless I know there's something there to look at.

And you should be able to customize the notification banner:
(1) its location on the screen
(2) is it fading or does it require a click before it disappears?
(3) How many seconds before it fades automatically?
(4) Size and color of the banner
Harrison Hudson commented
The 'More' should be highlighted to indicate that there are new messages in the teams that you don't have marked as favorite.

yes this is still very important for me. i would like to mute everything based on time (off hours).
I also want to be able to set a different setting per channel. For example i want notifications for all messages in one channel but only mentions in another.
I also want to ignore @general mentions in some channels.
Basically what slack offers...

My scenarios: maybe I don't want any notification from teams even for private messages and mentions after working hours. Also maybe I want to mute a channel or a team for a period of time to focus on something. That includes notifications on mobile app too.

I am an IT technician that works for a software engineering company. Notifications seem to be a big deal to people of this profession. If you can somewhat mirror what Slack does, I think that would be a great idea. I am working towards switching from Slack to Teams, but I meet objections because of what Slack offers. The biggest concern that is brought up is that Teams does not give the notifications that Slack does, even with the latest updates. Thank you for taking this input and I hope you build a better product that Slack is, because I do like where Teams is going.

Not so needed now we can follow channels.
Geoffrey Gelb commented
Yes! We should be able to choose a notification/subscription schedule/limits/digest for each channel and override on a specific device.

The only thing I think is missing is the option for a daily/weekly activity digest email.
