Same comment as others...ADD a flashing taskbar icon for new chats (not just a red #1 notification) and allow to HIDE the preview of the message at the same time.

I don't like the fact that I can't have just the banner without sound or just the sound without the banner. We need to make this more customizable for user preference. Or we go back to Skype.

They need to make notifications highly customizable. Everyone wants something different. I don't want banners but I do want sound. Currently I can't have sound unless I also have banner. No bueno. Make notifications highly customizable and make us all happy to have been forced into Teams

The ability to change the notification sound is a pretty popular request for Teams. It spans multiple posts, but all with the general theme of allowing the user to adjust the sound played and the volume. It certainly isn't easy for one whom is hard of hearing, but even worse that a low 'bloop' is the answer to gather one's attention. Some people work in noisy environments.

On multi-monitor rigs, notifications always appear on the 'main' monitor.
This is annoying as I tend to put Teams onto its own dedicated monitor and busy chats mess with my main monitor.
Can notofications simply display on the same monitor that Teams is running on ?

Teams notifications are being missed, notifications need to flash in the same manner as Skype.

We currently use Super Toast by Modality Systems to force a message box to the front and centre of the main screen if Skype for Business messages are ignored. This solution ensures that staff cannot miss chat messages. I appreciate this isn't practical for channels, but for chat messages it would be so helpful to have the ability to turn on a Super Toast-like message box. Our trials have highlighted this as a significant issue for our company.

This needs urgent attention. Many of our Teams users are missing important notifications and this is causing users to use alternative messaging systems.
This is particularly bad on MacOS, where Teams does not even use the built-in notifications system. It is imperative for Mac support that the built-in notifications system is used. -

When a Teams chat message is missed and the user gets an email saying they missed it...It would be nice if the user could then respond in email to the chat....as opposed to clicking the link in the email to respond to the chat.

There seems to be only two notification options for the Chat feature. Either receive pop up notifications in the bottom right of your screen (which can get annoying) or no notifications at all. It would be nice to have the option to have the teams app blink orange but avoid the pop ups in the bottom right of the screen.

Our company just converted from Skype to Teams and we're missing the notification features we used in Skype. Time sensitive messages are often being missed and we're finding Teams doesn't work well for IM in these instances. The ability to fine tune notifications and tailor sound/alerts at the micro level would be appreciated (we miss the flashing taskbar icon for new chats that we had in Skype - was discreet enough it didn't disrupt work in progress but noticeable enough you didn't miss any new messages)

I desperately need more granular notification controls, and a way to turn off the dock "badge" when there is new activity. It's super distracting to have Teams displaying a red circle as if there is something needing my attention immediately, when in fact it's just some random chatter in a channel I follow, that I can and will catch up with later.

Allow us to customize the location of the notification pop up.
For instance:
Option 1) Selection between the 4 corners of the screen.Option 2) Allow us to "unlock" and move the pop up, then "lock" the pop up. This then means the pop up will always appear in the spot it was "locked" in.
Other options can be created, but these are just ideas from my team that made the most sense without getting to complicated. We use teams as part of our communication and the pop ups help us stay in touch but they can be intrusive, and for some members block areas of the screen. Having the options allows each person to set it the way they need it!
All other suggestions I have seen do not seem to focus on the specific location, but there were 4897 Existing Ideas to sift through!

I've been added to many channels that have over 200 members, and not all of those members are as etiquette polite as others. I sometimes receive 10+ @channel notifications each day from these channels. Some channels only have a few members in them, and when an @channel goes out it us typically much more imperative than one from a 200+ member channel. I would like to be able to mute all notifications from each individual channel as I select.

Allow users to configure sound notifications per team.
In an ideal world, allow us to set a notification sound for mentions in addition to being able to differentiate audibly which team is producing new messages. -

I need a sound notification similar to Skype as I miss several messages each day.

Would also like a way to toggle the inbound call prompt on the app for those people who have Teams desk phones. They don't want anything displaying on the screen, just on the phone.

There are conditions when a e-mail does not get generated or triggered for a notification condition. i.e. if you have Teams Desktop running, background or foreground. No e-mail gets sent (in theory, your running Teams so why send you an e-mail, ok I get it but if it says e-mail send me the e-mail).
Is there a matrix and time table listing that some engineer has on how and when e-mail notifications get triggered and sent out?

I agree, I'd love to be able to hide the preview of the message when I get notified and am presenting or have someone else looking at my screen. I don't want people looking at my messages. This is a feature of other chats (e.g. Slack) and should be a feature of Teams.
