You should be able able to configure regex patterns or similar filter in place to configure alerts, like you can in Slack.
It would be nice to subscribe to a channel but then only alerts for feed updates the contain certain patterns, for example.

Sound notification needs to be customizable. It should allow you to set different sounds for things like:
Comment sent @ you in a chat
Direct chat to you
Message in channel you are in
Override certain channels with specific sounds -

I'd be happy if notifications worked at all. Teams is the only chat program I've ever used that waits 4 hours to send you an email to tell you a message was sent.

Nearly two years "working on it". Over a year since the last (information-free) update.
This is still confirming my suspicion that Microsoft have zero intention of allowing users any kind of meaningful control over their own UI.

Notification window
I would be great if there was an option to choose for the notification window to stay on the screen until "X" out of it. At this time it shows on the screen for a short window of time and then disappears. This way I feel like I would not miss a notification. I love that option in Cisco Jabber. -

unbelievable, years for such a minor improvement, and yet tons of updates been done, even a new company startup for a phone apps done much better
a quick fix will be using web version, and turn on browser desktop notification. it will work even with their own browser.

teams is definitly behind slack and other tools in this way. this is in many environments - small, medium and especially big - a gamechanging mus-have feature!
we need notifications for chats, team / channel messages, Tasks, Shifts. all these notifications must be customisable by the user to the way he prefers to be notified (banner, badges, email ...)
ADMINs must have the opportunity to initially set a notification in a Team or for certain channels ans allow to opt-out of notification or not (maybe the CEO-Channes must not be set to "notification off")
USERs must have the opportunity to manage their subscriptions (opt-in, opt-out, no change allowed)we badly need this feature so please make it a priority!

It would be great to set custom notification options for each Team for which we are a member. I prefer not to remove myself from a Team if I determine that general information will likely not be relevant to me. I wish there was an option to have different notification settings for each Team.

Would love to see an option similar to Slack's where you can hide the actual message in a message notification pop up and just see the sender. I screen share/present to the team a lot, thankfully no one's messaged me anything incriminating but IT WILL HAPPEN ONE DAY

YES for sound! Need a sound notification for when you are working and not staring at computer.

It would be nice to see a Teams banner/activity notifications for a comment made on a task assigned to you in Planner. Right now, you would only see notification through e-mail. But this involves going through different mediums just to know if someone has commented on the task assigned to you.

Agree with so many of the posts below. To be able to roll out the use of Teams instead of our current instant messaging and group messaging program, we need the following changes.
-Clear notifications (preferably flashing icon) so that messages/pop ups don't get missed. Urgent or Important need to be clearly differentiated within the notifications. Perhaps add a flashing taskbar icon as well as the pop up notification.
-Perhaps the flexibility to change notification settings to allow sound if wanted.
-Notification window needs to show in front of all and any windows currently open on screen
-Most importantly for us, is the ability to hide the preview of the message in the notification, this is vital for privacy and we believe we cannot roll this product out until this change has happened. Thanks in advance! -

I miss my Skype. If i had an option, I wouldn't even think to migrate to Teams. But then company roll out this team things to all of us and we need to follow. Couldn't believe the notification settings is like coming from a company doing app in early 80s instead of big corporation. Every one can see what people are messaging you by just glance at your shoulder.

Would be a great addition. I miss quite a few notifications simply because there is no sound, and no flashing lights.

Would like to see the icon flash similar to what Skype does so you don't miss messages if you happen to miss the pop up notification

Please continue to work on this option feature. I have a hard time hearing the notifications from this program. I miss a lot of conversations because of it. Thanks in advance

Have the chat window pop open on top of everything. We use to use an old program called MessagePal, and when a chat came through it would jump to the front of all programs running.
