My team has some users on Linux, and one benefit Slack has is a Linux client. Without a Linux client on Microsoft Teams, some orgs may have to turn away in favor of Slack so everyone can participate without keeping a browser open all the time.
We know many of you are waiting for a Teams client for Linux, and we’re pleased to confirm we’re actively working on it. Stay tuned for more information.

Please make it happen, our company allows the use of any operating system but we use Teams as our main communication tool.
they use electron as a base and don't want to create a linux version
guys, forget about it and just use your browser
It will never happen with Microsoft. Unfortunately MS does not care about support for other operating systems. If they make it the app will have limited functionality to push you on Windows.
Strong USP for Slack is the Linux client...

Working on it, under review, backlogged, declined, and finally back to backlogged.
What will next year bring? Possibly one employee at Microsoft that cares? I hope so!

+1 we need this!
want teams on ubuntu
Teams on ubuntu!. Now It's a must-have.
As Skype is now pretty useless for non-Windows users since it's codebase was trashed and replaced with Lync, it's only reasonable that the MS reconnect it's Windows customers' clients to their suppliers again. +1 for a Linux version of Teams. Although making it simple to allow universal connections in Skype/Skype for Business again would also be cool.
I'm one of a few Devs using Linux in a Microsoft house. I need a proper Linux suite of Microsoft tools. Teams and Skype for business on Linux would be great.
Adding my voice. I really need a client for Linux.
open your mind, microsoft... don't be evil ;)
please create a teams client for linux! and please tie in voip "skype for business" phone functionality
please create a thick client for teams
microsoft, can you finally stop lying about your love for linux and actually either start to support it or just close your company? why do you force technicians to use windows for use your products which should be generally available on all platforms? and why do you support mac instead of forcing apple people to get windows too?
I would really love to use teams on linux

Would love to see this too. As a University with BYOD users and many users on LInux our university is apparently the largest user of Teams in the Southern Hemisphere. It would be good to get our reasearch and engineering users into the fold. It’s would also be good for possible ChromeOS use.
Just to keep people posted as latest posts might confuse people.
https://github.com/IsmaelMartinez/teams-for-linux version 0.6.0 do have screenshare, video calls, etc working.
It was annoying to have to find a way around but understandable as we are not a supported client.
Again, we are happy to collaborate and will endeavor to provide support until the official Linux client is available.
I do hope it happens soon as is starting to take too much of my time/life!
The aur/snap/flatpack 's are for the same "client". Any issue for it do report in the github, and please be constructive also in here, we are all developers trying to solve problems. Also, PRs more than welcome!
