My team has some users on Linux, and one benefit Slack has is a Linux client. Without a Linux client on Microsoft Teams, some orgs may have to turn away in favor of Slack so everyone can participate without keeping a browser open all the time.
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback – we hear you loud and clear. After talking this over with the Engineering team, I confirmed this will remain on the backlog and we are actively considering how to accelerate.
Tweet me if you have any questions! @skprufo

Hey Suphatra, can you give us an update ??? without a native linux client our devops teams won't move from Slack!

did the team had the chance to perform the review?
While here, I am adding my vote to the list.

I really want to see the Linux client support voice/video chat and desktop sharing.

Really need this.

just another post on reminding you that we really need this
Is this froozen or shelved now? How long do "reviews" take? The Linux userbase is steady growing and would like to participate in this.
MUST have this. It's holding us up from migrating off Slack

Linux client must be!
I totally agree on this.

Is there an update on the timeline for the development of a Linux app?
Are there any updates on this one at all?
Any idea when this will come out of review and go into planning?
A product cannot be successful in DevOps groups, startups, and higher education teams without Linux desktop support these days.
I have worked with people in all three types of groups mentioned above. In each one of them, tools selection was driven by a requirement for Linux compatibility. Microsoft always loses in these contests. It would be quite nice finally to have an MS product that my Linux-operating co-workers would not automatically reject.

I'd rather see a plugin for pidgin so I can continue to customize my client and use one client for ALL my IM/chat protocols.
so great tool without linux support ? please please please . for software companies its very major.
there is impossible to use it effectively without linux client
MS is saying a lot of about things for linux.. and about .Net core ...

If you do not want to build Linux client, please at least add XMPP or IRC gateway. Linux users must be able to use TEAMS outside of browser.
