for me, who is present in a specific channel. I can see who is on teams by their status.
I would like to see who is in a channel so I can understand who will immediately see my messages,Thanks!

For me it wasn't about seeing who is presently in the channel (as in actively looking at it), it was more about seeing who is in the team and therefore ABLE to see the channel. It's handy if I type out a post and then stop and think "hmm, is this the right channel, can the appropriate people all see this?" If a list were there somewhere I'd be able to quickly check it without leaving my message.

So I know if posting to a channel will reach who I think it will reach

would be nice to see who is part of the channel and also online and available when your in the channel. gives you the ability to see who is part of the channel your posting in, and who is online right now that may respond to your post.

1. Helps you know who you can potentially tag
2. Will be more useful with ad-hoc channels and when (hopefully) external parties can be added at some point -

Looks like this idea already exists under "Teams and Channels" - Feel free to up-vote that idea here: https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/16911121-ability-to-see-who-is-in-a-channel
Also - if these listed participants within a channel also displayed their presence, that would be a nice touch.

Show a permanent display of which users belong to the current Channel/Team/Room. Possibly along the right side of the panel?
This makes for a very convenient way to reference who exactly you are addressing, or not addressing, and also allows somebody to easily decide whether additional participants should be added or removed from a conversation. Not to mention whether or not a particular topic of discussion is appropriate for the audience.
There is currently a feature that allows you to "View Team" - by selecting the ellipsis appearing to the right of a team, but that additional step could be reserved for displaying more of the complete details related to channel ownership etc.., and otherwise something as simple as a fixed list would suffice for most peoples needs at a glance.
Atlassian does a great job of this with "HipChat" - they actively display all participants who belong to a chat group so as to give you a quick reference of who exactly you are speaking to.

This! There should be a list/column of current channel members (and their online status) while viewing the conversation tab. Going to the "View Team" menu forces you to leave the conversation tab just to see the active participants.

Yet another wiff by Microsoft, I wish they'd waited to have a mature product instead of having my team feel like I've foisted a shallow product on them.

This would be awesome! That way I can know who might be best to tag in a comment/post.

If this is not added soon, I'll be laughed out of my office for trying to get us onto Microsoft Teams.... PLEASE ADD ASAP

First thing that prevents me from moving from slack to teams

I agree that this is a must-have...otherwise, who do I know who I'm talking to? There is tons of unused real estate in the main chat window. How about adding this as a right sidebar?

And at the same time, showing presence would be nice. By the way, the presence aside from possibly showing when they are in a meeting, should default to showing a user as away if there is no keyboard or mouse activity for some amount of time, rather than just showing them in the chat app.

I agree that it would be helpful if team/channel members including their status was displayed automatically as part of the team/channel chat.
Also the feature in SfB where you can see how long people has been away for would be handy

A must have Microsoft please Fix/Add the API for this

Yes I 100% agree. This is functionality that already exists, it just needs to be displayed in a different way. Everything is lined up like a chat-room except this final component: Who is in the channel?

It would definitely be nice to see all the online members of a team when you're viewing a channel.

Its hard to see who is online without specifically searching for their name or viewing their previous comments in a channel. Would love to see a list of those on my team and the presence.
