How can we make Microsoft Teams better?

Support for Private Channels

Looking for the ability to create a channel that only channel members can see. Private channels are available in slack. There is an admin for private channels who is the creator, and they are the ones who add/remove users.

Five types of public/privacy that is being asked for by users:

- Public-Open (visible anywhere including outside the org and anyone can join)
- Public-Invitation (visible anywhere including outside the org, must be invited)
- Company-Open (only visible inside the org and anyone in the org can join; outside the org must be invited)
- Company-Invitation (only visible inside the org, must be invited)
- Secret (invisible to everyone except existing members, must be invited)

Hey Microsoft Teams users — I want you to weigh in on new features around channels and group chats. The engineering team and I have put together this survey to find out how you want to see channels improve. You can fill it out here: https://microsoft.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_esTxHdABLQxKLvn

And I’m still waiting on approval to get you a good update about Private Channels. I can say that we ARE working on it, fervently.

Thanks and ping me any time, for anything at all: www.twitter.com/skprufo or sparavi@microsoft.com. I’m a little behind on email but catching up, so apologies for delays there!

Please let us know when this is available - hopefully soon! We're just trying to migrate users to Teams, and this is the most requested things; it hurts my team to tell our users "no, it can't do that". And most of our staff aren't even prior Slack users, so I hope they don't find out another product actually offers this. Come on Microsoft, I really want to root for you guys here.

I our organization, we need this feature to fully integrate Tasks in the way we work.

We would than create Teams/Projects and create Channels for different departments and/or activities.

Is there any update on this plan to rollout? Please comment and thanks in advance!

I think the above categories should be available for TEAMS & Channel creation. It could be very interesting to have a dedicated channel, where you collaborate with externals and the remaining Teams is Company-Open!
I would add, that SharePoint requires this security as well. An external can see only his channel (folder) and cannot access anything else (potentially except on invite)!

Definitely looking for an update on this. This is critical for our business structure moving forward.

What I don't understand is that this topic is on for a year now and we don't see any progress. The only thing we want to know is WHEN this is going to be released. Or at least a more precise ETA because early 2018 is way too vague (especially when we were told that after the NYE we would be provided with more details and ETA.

Please help us on this, there are high expectations on this tool and so far, I'm disappointed and would rather use Slack (I personally use it for personal projects) due to this lack. In my company, there is a project I'm working on that can't be fully launched because of this. I'm sure I'm not the only one stuckin the same scenario.

I look forward to the roll out of private channels but I am kind of curious to find out how this will affect the permissions on the group team site.

I know this is a bit late, but one more would be good to have and that would be channel Private, so that I could have a private channel that not all could see

THANKS FOR WORKING ON THIS! This will be a big help to our groups with administrative or managerial components that are currently creating entirely separate teams to manage more sensitive conversations.

We also have teams that would require this functionality before they could fully use Teams. If you need anyone to help test, I'm interested. ;)
