  1. Introduce breakout room functionality

    We have a business requirement for breakout rooms with live events. The idea is pretty simple - we plan to use live events to host internal staff training webinars and as part of that, at times we will ask for small groups of people (typically 4-5) to go away into a breakout room and come back to the group with their answer/idea.

    We would like to see this functionality be introduced to Microsoft Teams for not only live events but also video calls. This would provide feature parity with pre-existing tools such as Zoom, WebEx and many more which would…

  2. Change which Tab is default landing page for a Team and/or Channel

    Right now the conversation tab is the default landing page for a Team and/or Channel.
    I want to be able to have a SharePoint site landing page in a tab and that tab be the default tab open when you navigate to a team or channel.

    Think of it like a landing page for that team. You may not want it to drop right into Conversations. If you can have a SharePoint page with a Microsoft Teams conversations web part, you get the best of both worlds.
    I can see a lot of scenarios where you'd want the chat window…

  3. Make "Teams" and "Chat" the same Tab

    There is no reason that Teams and Chat should be different top level categories in the left navigation. They are the same thing, perform exactly the same function, and making two different items simply confuses the navigation and makes badge notifications and discoverability much more difficult to use.

    Please combine Chats into the Teams tab so that you can browse all conversations in one place rather than needing to navigate to different tabs to see different conversations.

  4. File column sort order

    Make column sort order "sticky" so that if I prefer to sort my files by Name instead of Last Accessed, Team will remember my preference within a Team

  5. Add a "Raise Your Hand" feature in meetings

    When in a meeting with multiple people it would be nice to have a way to signal that you would like to speak so that you can be called upon by the meeting organizer.

    This would allow users to show they have something to say, but they do not want to interrupt

  6. Unread message count on Chat, Teams, channels

    Right now there is a unread message count badge on the Activity tab icon (I guess you only get that if you have followed any channels?). However I would much rather prefer if the badge was on the Chat and Teams tab icons so I can see where there is activity. Currently collapsed teams are also indicated having activity. Expanded teams should have the same indication.

    Furthermore, the unread activity badge on both the Activity and the application icon count unread channels. I would prefer a message count.

  7. Add other Sharepoint document folders under Files

    Please allow adding granular SharePoint document library subfolders to the Files tab. Currently, only the document library level can be added, not sub folders.

    This allows adding content from related but separate SharePoint sites without having to provide the entire document library (which may contain irrelevant content to the Team)

  8. slash commands are a must-have

    Slash commands for just about every type of function are a must have. They are familiar and easy to use without having to touch your mouse, they are UI-agnostic. Admittedly not terribly discoverable – but the UI is even worse, as their is no real option for auto-completion of UI elements, now is there?

  9. Disable auto-syncing of Availability status with Outlook calendar

    Please also allow users to turn off auto-syncing of Availability status with their Outlook calendar and other sources.

  10. Notification for Planner Tasks

    Planner and Teams just needs a notification - when a task has been created for an assigned user that user should receive a notification - currently we are doing a work around by starting a conversation with a mention of a member name

  11. Users added to team line removed

    In each general channel a new line gets created for all new users added to a team. Can this line be removed?
    As an example I setup a team and get some posts ready for welcome messages and introductions, then when I add groups of people, after a few lines all my messages have pushed up and off the screen.
    We have one specific team for all in the business and all the threads are getting lost as we add each department/individuals one by one.

  12. Add ability to print and/or export a wiki page.

    Provide the ability to print and/or export (Word, PDF, etc.) a wiki page(s) that is created under a Team's channel page.

  13. Use same date and time format as in my computer's settings

    Many people like to use English as their display language, but get confused with the US date format: 11/06 is October 6 in the US, but June 11 in many other countries. Why not display the date according to the setting in Windows?

    Same goes for time, of course, where many use 24 hour format instead of am and pm.

  14. Make "Follow this channel" the default setting.

    Usual Microsoft lack of UI intuition.
    Channels should be followed by default with the user unfollowing it if they wish.

  15. Open in Word/Excel/PowerPoint as Default

    It would be great if Teams would have the ability to always launch the desktop app when opening Office documents as opposed to launching the online version.

    Rest of teams is awesome.

  16. Add team wide reminders

    We have weekly bot reminders currently on Slack and that would be a big advantage to getting our whole team moved over.

    For example:
    - Tuesdays at noon: Reminder - team meeting in 30 minutes
    - Last Friday of month: Finish submitting hours
    - etc....

  17. Load picture as background instead of blur background in Teams video chat

    How about loading a picture as a defined background instead of just blur the background during a Teams video chat?

    So, for example, I could load an all black picture as the default background to keep the focus on me.

  18. Allow hyperlinking to network drive locations

    While you are currently able to hyperlink to any https:// address, hyperlinks to \-mapped drives does not work. having the ability to do this would be a huge help for a company that has a sophisticated network drive setup for everyone to access

  19. outlook integrations for shifts

    Once a user is assigned a schedule within shifts the schedule should sync to their outlook calendar.

    It would also be nice to see Available shifts in outlook and be able to accept them (or at least link to the shift in teams to be able to accept)

  20. Proofing tools (spell check, theasaurus, autocorrect)

    One of the defining features of office down the years has been the proofing tools (i.e. Spell checker, theasaurus, autocorrect, grammar checker). I would love to see these come to Teams.

    The way I envisage this working is as I'm typing a message the famous red/blue/green squigglies that we've all become familiar with should show up.

    Most of all I'd like autocorrect (i.e. a spelling correction that I've used previously automatically gets applied as I type). Stretch goal for this, have a single set of autocorrects that work across all of Office 365, including the client apps.
