  1. Teams uses 600MB and is super slow!

Quotes from various users about memory usage and slow performance:

"Team is a memory hog! 100s MB! Slack is about 50."

"The memory consumption is over 300MB!!! This should be a priority."

"Just started evaluating teams, 500+ MB and 10-15% CPU. This is in a citrix VDI. Does teams use hardware rendering? If so is there a way to turn it off? I had to do this with the rest of Office."

"I dont understand why my Teams application only uses 70MB when other people in my organization are towards half a gig! What is causing this Teams?"

    "Make it…

Great performance and user experience remain a topmost priority for us. Application launch time has seen improvements in the recent build. We will continue making improvements across the product including channel to chat switching and overall resource consumption.

  2. Using Teams Offline

    MULTIPLE USERS reporting offline needs:

Generally want to use Teams offline:

If I am offline it would be great to browse through Teams and Channels in case I have to lookup some informations.

Also viewing the latest notes in "Notes" on teams would be great.

It would be enough to have "Read only" - for the moment my Teams app does not even open when I am offline

Compared on my mobile - I can read all posts while I am offline.

    Edit while offline:

just been using teams wiki to take and share notes in a meeting. when the…

  3. Clear local cache button

Teams has a bunch of difference local caches and temp files that just continually grow forever in %appdata%\Microsoft\teams. It would be great to have a button that would wipe out all the local cache and temp files in this folder. Doing it manually has a very noticeable performance gain throughout teams.

As it stands, I'm going to write a powershell script to run on all the workstations I manage periodically to close teams and clean this up as a refresh of teams.

  4. Slow performance and high memory consumption

This may technically be a bug but I'll add this anyway as a blanket item. The performance of the desktop client is just abysmal in my experience.

Clicking around constantly freezes the UI, and typing is painfully slow.

    Merged  ·  Suphatra responded

Hi guys! Thanks for submitting this. I totally hear you and have experienced this as well.

The good news is, we’re actively working on this. We recently pushed an update that improved performance when channel switching and scrolling. So this should be considerably better for you.

We’ll continue to make improvements on performance, so stay tuned for updates.

Keep the suggestions coming and thank you for helping us make Teams awesome!

    Sincerely,
    Suphatra

  7. Teams using a lot of CPU - reduce idle power

For some reason the latest update has Teams using between 8% and 25% CPU idling, doing nothing. There is an issue with this update.

  8. Reduce desktop client power consumption

Teams desktop client background running is draining laptop battery every couple of hours. See attached image. Additionally, since installing the client, whenever I have put the machine into sleep mode, it reboots itself within a matter of seconds of shutting the lid.

    Laptop is a Dell XPS13 (9343) running Windows 10 Pro 1607 14393.1198

  9. Cache Something, Anything

My goodness, every time you start Teams it's as though it's the first time. Most or all history is gone until it pulls it down from the cloud again. If you want us to use it, make it start in less than 60 seconds.

  10. MS Teams kills laptop battery life

Teams constantly consumes a small amount of cpu time which blocks my laptop from ever sleeping or hibernating because it is never idle. This is not ideal for many reasons. Obviously the software designed around a polling model which is not generally considered to be a great design pattern. To rephrase this as an idea: Change teams so it works on an event based model rather than constantly polling for updates.

  11. Make it load faster and load in the background.

Right now it simply loads too slowly, and it has that massive in-your-face splash screen while doing it.

  12. Slow UI

The native Mac client is very slow compared to either Slack or Hipchat when switching between channels or replying to a conversation.

Please improve the performance of the application.

  13. scroll performance - messages are grey boxes before rendering

scroll lag : scrolling performance (i.e. to previous messages in a chat/channel) is much worse than expected - messages don't render for a noticeable period of time

  15. network bandwidth

Looking at UserVoice there are a few requests dealing with network utilization. Microsoft provided guidance on network bandwidth requirements for media traffic with Skype(https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/plan-your-deployment/network-requirements/network-requirements). This helps provide large enteprise customers guidance during architectural decisions as well as assist with right sizing their current audio/video usage. This is missing for Team and is needed to assist customers sizing their environment correctly as well as assist with future planning. This can help decrease some of the network bandwidth asks as customers will have better guidance on what is expected with Teams over SfB

  17. when presenting allow presenter to see participants and the chat aswell.

allow presenter to see the presentation and the participants as it is really difficult to control and run the presentation professionally when you cannot see your audience and you cannot utilise the chat as a way of participating

  18. Switch between accounts

Give teams the ability to switch between accounts. I have to log in and out everytime I want to change accounts that represent different companies. Also, if it was more integrated with outlook, it would make my life better.

  19. Preference to open linked docs in local/desktop version of excel/word/onenote - and not always Office Online

We use OneNote and Excel quite extensively. We share files via Team channels all the time. But opening them in Office Online is very very slow. We want to open the document in the desktop versions of Excel and OneNote as a first choice.

  20. Make it faster

Teams app on win 10 is frustratingly slow to close after clicking red x. Taskbar lights up with new message but shows name of last conversation partner not new one. Opening up to see a new message starts you where you left off instead of new message. Badges on phone app don’t go away if I check on messages using Windows app. Nowhere near as snappy as like, AIM back in the day
