  1. Rearrange all Tabs within a Channel

I know a similar request is marked as "We have this!", but it's not possible to move all tabs.

I can rearrange the tabs that I add, but Conversations and Files cannot be moved.

I would like to have a channel that starts with a Planner tab, and another that starts with a Wiki tab.

Not everyone channel will be based around conversations, so it should be possible to move the Conversation and File tab to the far right.

Thank you for your votes and comments. The team has declined this ask. While Posts and Files are not able to be rearranged, all other tabs can be customized in any order. This maintains a consistent initial user experience across all channels.

  2. Support for http and not only https

Only possible to use HTTPS urls as tabs. Would be nice if HTTP would work as well.

As you may be aware, HTTP is inherently less secure compared to HTTPS, and modern browsers are making it increasingly difficult to access http:// links; many of them require users to bypass an intermediate page with a scary security warning.

We take users privacy and security very seriously, and we also take popular UserVoice feature requests very seriously. We investigated many approaches to address this feature request in a way that would also pass security review. One way would have required tenant administrators to manually add domains/intranet sites to an “allow list”, – we received feedback that be unwieldy and add work for IT departments.

Even if that were acceptable however, we’d have a situation that http:// URLs would only ever work on the desktop client. Users who clicked on the tab using the browser client would see the same scary warning that users accessing the same URL in…

  3. Remove OneNote Tab from Channel

Now that Teams adds a Wiki tab by default to each Channel, I'd like to remove the previous default OneNote tab from each Channel.

  4. Screen Space

Don't restrict the width of the screen space for channel conversations, if my monitor is wide enough, adjust the display to fill up all the available space.

  5. Move channel folders to Teams folder

The foldere that contain the files for each channel are stored in the main Documents library of the SharePoint site. This can be confusing as to what documents are part of the Teams channels and what are just on SharePoint. Please move the channel file folders into a "Teams" folder, so that all files from Teams are together and easy to identify.

This feature request has been declined by the feature team. However, the feature team is working on design changes to better help differentiate Teams files.
Which hopefully will help alleviate the confusion users are experiencing when when trying to identify SharePoint files versus Teams files.

  6. IMPROVED Markdown Support

    IMPROVE actual markdown:

    Disable auto-formatting of markdown
    italic not bold or italic
Make it the SAME as GITHUB
    https://guides.github.com/features/mastering-markdown/
    which is closer to DaringFireball
    http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/

    IMPROVE for mobile:
Please add markdown support for Android client.

    IMPROVE for other languages:
Currently the code formatting doesn't work for german keyboard users due to the system expecting another character after the
Due to that, Teams does not recognize the
and interprets it as any other character.
I think that needs to change.

We’re fixing bugs identified in the comments, and other user reports we’ve received around markdown, but we’ve decided we’re not going to fundamentally change our markdown support.

This is the first time we’ve declined a request, and it didn’t come easily. We weighed this against other important features we’re working on to deliver and we had to make some tough choices.

Really appreciate your understanding on this, and please feel free to ping me if you have any questions, complaints, or need to rant.

  7. Ability to specify different colors for different teams

During testing of Teams app we found that users are quite often confused in regards to which team they are posting (specifically when they post to 'general' channel) - I think ability to assign different colors for different teams (by the owners/admins) would be helpful and could help to reduce amount of mistakes.

  8. conversations are confusing

keeping a conversation going in a single thread seems to be confusing for some people. often they just start typing a new thread as a reply to a previous one. Maybe update the size and boldness of reply or make it more apparent that you are starting a new conversation

  9. Automatically place the pointer to chat/text input

Whenever I receive a notification and I click on it with the mouse, I then have to click a second time in the chat box before I can start typing. From usability perspective this is very annoying. Whenever you receive a notification from someone, and click on the notification bubble, you should be able to directly start responding to this person.

  10. Make it possible to remove and/or rename the default tabs (files & notes)

It would be really great if we would be able to remove / rename the default tabs. A lot of times files / notes are too generic names for the tabs, so renaming would be really helpful then. :-)

  11. Have video OFF by default in a team call.

Should have to opt IN to turning on video for a team call. It seems to be this way (off by default) for a video in CHAT, just not in a TEAM call.

  12. OneNotes sections

Have a Team use ONE OneNote BUT make all channels use a section group and also support creating sections within that section group.

Then the overall onenote would be semi-organised and also making the channels having the opportunity to group and extend note taking more freely.

The feature team has declined this request due to the fact that a similar experience already exists.

You can achieve very similar functionality with the existing integration. The OneNote integration has been redesigned so that you can add an entire notebook as a channel tab, but always show a particular section (be it new or existing). Within each tab, you can also create other sections as well as pages within any section to better organize your notes.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions.

  13. Team Opt Out - (Assign members to channels, not automatically)

I might have a team called IT and channels of IT projects. So assigning members to channels would be great, since it's not the same for each project (channels).

Primary ask is to be able to set a Team to "Opt Out" and therefore not automatically join team members to every channel under that specific Team.

Users would have the ability to invite others users to channels. (Or as an Admin, add people to channels as needed.)

  14. Nested Teams and subchannels

Could it be possible to create teams within teams. For example, we have a Development Team at our company which consists of two sub-teams, tech support team and project team.

I’d love to be able to have a “home” top-level channel for my project team, and then have sub-channels for each project that we are working on.

  15. Sort conversations so the latest posts are at the top rather than bottom

Messages currently come in with latest content at the bottom of the page. Would be good to be able to re-sort so the conversations with the most recent traffic are at the top. Also, move the "Start a new conversation" to the top so that its clear you're adding a new conversation and not responding to a prior thread (we have a lot of newbies who don't use the "reply" because the compose bar is on the bottom, and thus end up creating a bunch of new threads accidentally).

Conversations in Groups starts at the top and forces old ones…

  16. Add ability to collapse images

Please add the ability to collapse images and gifs. I keep my chat open on a third monitor. It isn't distracting whenever all I see is text but adding images and gifs causes it to catch my eye as I'm working on the other monitors. Slack also has an option to have images and gifs shown as collapsed by default.

  17. Windows app should stay minimized to system tray

The Windows app keeps appearing as an active app in my app bar, even after I've closed the app so it is only in the Windows system tray.

Apparently receiving a notification causes the app to jump from the system tray to the app bar - and that shouldn't happen.

This feature request has been declined.

Currently if you have the Teams app set to run in the background upon clicking the “X” in the upper right, the app stays active only in the system tray. If you receive chat messages, it still remains in the SysTray.

However, if you get an @mention, the focus pulls it to the Taskbar. This is by design since you are getting directly mentioned and some action is typically expected. This is a key design element which the team does not wish to deviate from.

We appreciate the suggestion but will respectively decline it at this time.

Thank you for the feedback and suggestion.

  18. Drag chat messages to merge them into one reply thread

Since a lot of people type messages in quick succession, it'd be helpful to have the ability to drag and merge them together into individual "reply threads".

  20. Hide the reply button under every message

The "reply" button is WAY too large under each message. I recommend either making the button just a smaller icon and off to the side of a message, or only showing it on hover.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news. This item has been declined. There will be no work to hide or remove the reply button.

As many people have commented, a big ask is to help improve how people distinguish between giving a reply and starting a new message.
For that the focus will be on this item. “Better visual delineation between `Reply` and `Start a new conversation`”
