  1. Put the "Start a new conversation..." box at the top

In Teams Channels, it's way too common for users to start a new conversation when they intend to reply to an existing conversation. Move the "Start a new conversation..." box, and the formatting & submission icons, to the top of the Conversations window. Keep the latest conversation/reply at the bottom. The idea is to create some separation between the "Start a new conversation..." box and the "Reply" link that sits at the bottom of existing conversations.

  2. When clicking on a team the main pane should be the home page of the SharePoint site and have "Home" as a default tab before Conversations

If I have a team selected and click on another team it either expands or collapses that team but the main pain doesn't change and I am still looking at content from the previous team. It would be nice if the main pane displayed the "Home" page of the underlying SharePoint site so News, Links and Activity is displayed and you have navigated away from the previous team. It would also be nice if that was a default tab on the General channel navigation as the first thing you come to. We manually add that to every Team.

  3. "Tabbed" Conversations under the Main Conversations Tab of the Channel.

"Tabbed" conversations under the main conversations tab of the channel could work like OneNote "Pages" under a "Section", i.e. allow for Conversation Groups and separate Conversation below that can be browed through and enables a flexible structure. Custom notifications should be allowed and Badges on top of the Tabs and Subtabs should simplify tracking these conversations.
These conversations should be able to be deleted or archived (this may happen already in the Groups) by the owner of the group in order to remove finished conversations like a Task Force or Project conversation.

  4. Allow "pop-out" for chat conversations

It would be great to be able to "pop out" a chat conversation or multiple chats to be able to view more than one chat at a time. Sometimes I need to refer to a different chat and it is a pain to flip back and forth and lose the place you were when going back and forth. Other messaging platforms that we've used had this feature and it is missed.

  5. Support multiple organizations without switching

Please allow multiple organizations within teams without switching. Just like Outlook supports multiple email addresses. We work with multiple companies and would like a seamless Teams communication tool.

  6. Multiple Teams windows open at once

I want to have two or more Teams windows open at the same time, but the desktop version doesn't to that.

  7. Define What app to open with when you open a document in teams

We have found some documents work better in the desktop apps than in the online version. Good example Excel and Onenote.

As a team owner have a way to flag a document where it always wants to open in Desktop excel.

  8. Option in Teams admin portal to create an org-wide team.

Global admin with Teams license is the only one who can create an org-wide team. There are lots of global admin with administrative task only so there is no need to purchase a license just to create an org-wide team.

  10. Copy Channel in a team as Channel Template

Be able to copy a channel as a template for other channels.
Or create a channel as copy of another channel, within a Team.

  11. Inactive Team Policy

Currently, Teams automatically hides Teams which have not been used in more than 45 days (https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&featureid=48621). Be able to create a policy in the TAC or in the client that can both set the number of days to hide inactive Teams (I.e. 7 - 100) and also be able to disable this altogether so inactive Teams are never moved to hidden Teams.

Requested in TC article here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams/Automatic-hiding-of-Microsoft-Teams-in-more-than-45-days/m-p/767541#M35285

  12. Prevent Team deletion by mistake

We currently face often the issue that some team-owners try to leave a team. But for reasons i don't know they sometimes flip from leave team to delete team. And then they tend to not read the following Dialoge and set the checkmark and click delete. Then the Team is gone…

What i have in mind is to ask the user, like in MMORPGs, to write the Team name again manually in a Textbox before enabling the deletion Button. If they mean it to delete the team then it is ok.

If they have flipped buttons they will then read…

  13. Customize default sort order of folders in Teams

Folders in Teams are sorted by default on last modified date. There is no option to set a different default sort order like an alphabetic sort order.

Please add options that allows the user to set his/her own default sort order in order to sort folder names in Teams.

  14. Reactions Order - Place the "thumbs up" to the far right

We now have additional "reactions" beyond the thumbs up "like" but the thumbs up is always going to be the most used so it would be great if it can be placed on the far right of the reactions bar to make it easiest to access. Thank you!

  15. It should be possible to change the Channel sharepoint file directory

Currently, if I create a new Channel, Teams will automatically create a sharepoint directory with the same name. However, if I change the name of the Channel, the directory name does not automatically change accordingly. If I want to change the directory name to match the new channel name, I am unable to do so. Even if I open the Channel file directory in Sharepoint and manually rename it, the channel connection does not update. In fact, this seems to completely break the connection (i.e. the channel no longer points to the same folder once it has been renamed in…

  16. Edit member names in Teams

Allow the capability for member names/alias to be modified in Teams either by the Team owner or by the member.

For instance a guest in Teams that has already been added to the tenant and is now added to a new Team will by default be stuck with the naming convention from how they were originally added. Such as Smith.Michael[Corp]@company.com when really you'd like it to show: Michael Smith.

  17. delete some conversation in the "chat" "conversation"

Unable to delete "conversation" chat. Keep it simple by select the conversation and hit delete key.

Nowhere can be found the way to delete

  18. Show all unread messages in a single view, like Slack "Unread" folder

I find it very complicated to see all unread messages in all teams. The Teams/Channels are marked in bold, but are scattered in the teams list.
Especially when you are in many teams (30+), there is no good overview over all unread messages.

A dedicated place (like Activity) showing all unread messages (teams and chats) would be nice, like the "Unread" functionality in Slack.

Unread messages should contain all teams or just teams/channels you follow (maybe editable in settings or like activity filter).

  19. Allow Channel Level Security

Allow Channel level security in addition to Team level security. This will allow for better cross collaboration. Commonly, you will have a set of internal org team members, but projects (channels) may contain external resources. It would be highly useful to simply give guest access at the channel level and once a project is done, simply delete or archive the channel, not have to remove Team guest users every time. This also solves the issue of having a large amount of Teams to control what guest users can see. Instead of 20 teams with different guest in each team, you…

  20. Support for Private Channels

Looking for the ability to create a channel that only channel members can see. Private channels are available in slack. There is an admin for private channels who is the creator, and they are the ones who add/remove users.

Five types of public/privacy that is being asked for by users:

    - Public-Open (visible anywhere including outside the org and anyone can join)
    - Public-Invitation (visible anywhere including outside the org, must be invited)
    - Company-Open (only visible inside the org and anyone in the org can join; outside the org must be invited)
    - Company-Invitation (only visible inside the org,…

We acknowledge the customer demand for Private Channels and have been hard at work on it. Private Channels is currently in preview with a select group of customers. We expect to release the feature to the public later this Fall, and will update here when we are starting to roll out to all customers. We appreciate all the feedback you have provided to us on this forum and thank you for your patience.
