Support hashtags in channels and DMs
Allow clickable links on #hashtagged items ... in a channel or group, perform a search within that group.
For DMs and conversations, search all of your conversations
This feature is on the backlog. I will update you when we have more details to share.
If it aint a Zoom killer, it aint a priority.

Client looking at other tools than Teams now due to #hashtag feature missing, vital for this client to have it available across teams/channels/chats (where you have access). Would appreciate an update on this - backlog or being worked on or coming this fall... - Regards, Jan

very much interested in this functionality. we've got a tips and tricks channel and the ability to categorize items as 'python', 'spark', 'linux' would be great.
We're using a channel in teams to share Development within the team, and would love the ability to categorise each little "nugget of wisdom" so that if someone wants to look up "Communication Development" they can just see posts related to that, rather than having to scroll through the whole thread. We had multiple channels for each category however that just resulted in too much noise, which Teams was brought in to reduce.
This needs to be done if Teams is to be our primary repository.

How is it that this request stems from way back in 2017 and it is still "on the backlog" 3+ years later? Seriously Microsoft, you can do better!
we also needed this and therefore we developed an app - https://www.smarterbusiness.at/en/tagging-for-your-messages-in-microsoft-teams - we want to make it available in app source in near future! If you already want to try it out or have some additional idea please contact us.
I need a hashtag features in Teams for messages and links sent in channels. As a research group, we just started to use Teams, and it is our third day, and already without this tool, it isn't easy to organize the kind of work we do...

Hashtags would be great. Additionally, there should be a possibility for a user to follow a hashtag to get an activity stream (which might help to find teams/channels where a special topic is discussed) or to create calculated channels/columns comparable to tweetdeck.

Search for a Hashtag in the search bar searches globally in Teams for all posts with this hashtag.
Klicking a Hashtag in a Conversation or Private Chat, searches in exactaly this scope.
That would be so awesome!
I am surprised that this feature has not yet been implemented. i would use it with my own tags to easily search some kinds of conversation.

If we started to # posts now, would they work once this feature is active? That way we could start using # for topics now and plan for the future.

We would use this feature on a daily basis, I'm very surprised this was not an option form the very beginning. I'm hoping for an update on this soon and hoping that this feature will also offer the ability to search hashtags and see analytics. We're hoping to use MS Teams they way other organizations use Salesforce Chatter or Slack.
I would also like to send a conversation part to a to Do (planner f.e.) in an easy way

We need to vote for this feature ? Really ??? How Product Owner priorize ?? Animated gif and sticker is more important ? more valuable than this core feature for collaborative business ?
It works in ADS/TFS and Sharepoint...
Build a Teams room with your internal dev. teams ;-)

I am surprised as well that this feature has not yet been implemented. This would greatly improve content structure and is a must in the "tagging era"

That's sad, we're wating 4 years for that functionality and at least from 2 years it's in backlog. :(
With many schools and businesses using Teams now for distance learning during COVID19, hashtags would be extremely helpful for managing all the files, topics, etc. Many of our files have multiple topics and having hashtags would help make filing more intuitive.
