Support hashtags in channels and DMs
Allow clickable links on #hashtagged items ... in a channel or group, perform a search within that group.
For DMs and conversations, search all of your conversations
This feature is on the backlog. I will update you when we have more details to share.
It is not very pleasant to see which features Microsoft currently prioritizes.
It seems to be much more important to make the background image customizable than this one.

Plus include in Team analytics e.g. see most used hashtags in a team or channel and be able to select a particular hastag and see it's usage over time...
This helps measure the excitement a topic is generating within a Team (which is one of our usecases for hashtags)

Yes please important feature to be able to use teams as a file repository.
This is a very important feature to structure business channels - please prioritize soon ;)
this feature is much needed.
Hi Alex, It's now 2 months after the last update. We've lived in a #hashtag world for at least a decade now. How about getting this one #committed to a #sprint and a #release?
Teams is putting in all this work to make Teams for Home users, Teams for Schools, Teams for Frontline works. It'd be nice if they'd work on Teams for Teams users and stop spreading so thin.

Boy does this need to be added immediately. Teams was a great solution for small things before COVID, but now all my colleagues are climbing on my back about Teams feature lack relative to things like Zoom or, in this case, Slack.

3 years later such a simple feature is in 'backlog'?

I honestly can't believe that Teams didn't have such a feature designed in from the start. It seems so fundamental to navigating the unstructured information that evolves in a Teams setting. The sheer volume of information that is generated rapidly becomes overwhelming, and there is no curating that will fix that. Hashtags brings order and makes the information useful to the rest of the team.

The ability to categorize a Post (most significantly the initial Post in a conversation) is huge and would open so many more options as to how Teams could be used and to be able to use it efficiently. The categorization could be implemented using tags or hashtags or labels similar to Planner. The ability to filter and/or search by tags would be necessary as well.
We have a Support team in Teams and a Help Me channel that allows agents to ask for help from the entire company. It works great but the without any form of categorization we are unable to mark a Post as "Solved" or something similar so we never know if it still needs attention unless we read the Post itself to determine its status.
For me, this is more about categorizing the Posts with a tag or label and not necessarily having hashtags within the conversation itself, so the idea might be a bit different (and maybe should be moved to a new topic).
I have so many uses in Teams where categorization would make a huge difference. I would like to see this reviewed and move from "on the backlog" to "in progress" :) Thanks for your consideration.

This would be a very useful feature for topic based search. This would help us with organizing the information and also tag the conversations/emails with appropriate topic tags
Very useful functionality to be able to tag documents with metadata to enable search.
Is there any update on the #hashtag topic thus far? It is important to have information structured at these trying times. The function could significantly improve the data navigation experience. Otherwise we just get lost in a silo.
Just piling on that our organization too would really like to use linked hashtags to organize chat and DM content. Would be very helpful and is somewhat of a social expectation.
You folks are rockin' it and coming to everyone's rescue. Keep up the great work.

;-) See what I mean?
I second everything Mitt had to say.
"Tagging is a basic requirement for team chat to work."
"It's been 2 years. Two years! Not having it is ridiculous"

It would be nice to get some feedback on this vonted feature!

This came up again in my org. A great implementation would be some flexible ways "subscribe" to hashtags. E.g. I could get notified of any use of #hashtag on any team I belong to, in a specific team, or only in a specific channel.
This would be an awesome feature!

We've introduced Teams across our org. This is my 2nd implementation and in both companies, users wished they could tag a message, post, etc., and then be able to search the team by the hashtag. I could see this as a benefit to tenant admins too!
Another great idea. Would benefit in sorting and managing components efficiently.
