Linux client

My team has some users on Linux, and one benefit Slack has is a Linux client. Without a Linux client on Microsoft Teams, some orgs may have to turn away in favor of Slack so everyone can participate without keeping a browser open all the time.

We’re pleased to confirm the Teams client for Linux will be available in preview by the end of this calendar year, enabling people who use Linux client at work or in educational institutions to collaborate with others on Teams. Users are able to install native Linux packages in .deb and .rpm formats.

Please note the supported Linux distributions are: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS*, 18.04 LTS, Fedora 30 Workstation, RHEL 8 Workstation, CentOS 8. We are working to unblock CentOS 7, and it will be available soon.

Hey guys, it has been two years since you asked for this and two years that I have been asking engineering for this and about this. At this point, there is no dedicated resource to creating a Linux client and I don’t want to string any of you along about it anymore. I’m marking this as declined so we can focus on your other requests.

Though for those that don’t know, you can use Google Chrome to run the web version of Teams on Linux. It is a workaround to a degree…

This item is still queued in the backlog. No really new info to share at this time.

It isn’t forgotten but as Suphatra stated some priorities have shifted so this item is not actively being worked upon.

We will continue to follow up on this and work to get some traction for this item.

I know how much you all want this, and I’ve gotten a couple emails asking for an update.

As you likely already know, we’re heads down trying to get Guest Access out the door, so we are not actively working on a Linux client.

Also, we’ll be focusing on knocking out a significant number of user requests in the coming months, but the scope of a Linux client is too big for that time frame. I plan to lobby for this one once we get these other items, and Guest Access out the door.

I really appreciate your patience, and please rest assured I haven’t forgotten about this ask!

Hello, great news since all of our developpers are on Linux and that my enterprise start to deploy this tools !
